Ok I have never changed out front diff oil my bad. Figure these parts do not spin unless I am in 4x4 so how do I go about doing job? I quickly looked under there all I saw was big steel plate with 2 bolts.

They are always spinning when moving, they're just not under load in 2wd. The steel skid plate will have 4 bolts total to remove, then you can drop it down. Remove the fill plug on top of the diff, then the drain plug at the bottom. Refill to just below the lip of the fill hole. Buy two quarts of whatever's in the manual and you'll have some left over.

Anyone else ever notice that the oil drained from the front diff always appears significantly contaminated/black, etc?

The used oil from my rear diff always looks like I just put it in.

Regardless of weight used (at 15k)

Small diff(less oil) and covered by your skid so does not cool as well as the rear diff.
