Put in shop to do timing belt and water pump. He calls and tells me no water to be found. How long will a water pump last . 137000miles on the crd. Just bought the truck don't know if the timing belt or pump has ever been done. Next time 200,000 seems like a long time. Any thoughts or advice would help thanks!

I've seen very few reports of leaking water pumps here before 200,000mi. Like 2 or 3. They may come out of the woodwork having said that, but I haven't seen it being a high failure item. Not even close.

Why attempt it... will you garantee your work?

RockAuto.com has a 3 day turn aroundtime.... send them your old one, they rebuild it and return it within 3 days.

Sounds good to me.

And if you do get a water pump leak, it will be undetectable causing the head gasket to leak and or the cylinder head to warp.

Work in a shop and it's seen weekly on any vehicle that uses a timing belt.
