NAPA Fuel Filter?

Picked up a NAPA fuel filter for the CRD today, and to my dismay it was made in China. Any reason I should not use it? Should I take it back and get the OE one from Mopar? Lastly, do you guys fill the filter with diesel Kleen or anything or just use the primer button to fill? I usually prime the VW/Audi style filter in the Volvo 240 diesel (VW/Audi) engine in those) with diesel Kleen.

I've used those filters for a while and never had any problems with it. On the new filter I fill it up half way with diesel Kleen, prime to fill the rest up with diesel and turn the key.

I also question if the Chinese fuel / water separator filter is in fact a fuel /water separator filter or just a plain fuel filter without the water separator.

If you compare them side by side and look deep down inside, you'll notice that the innards are not the same.

If the napa filter is not a water separator filter then the reduced rate of $19.00 is too much to pay for just a filter.

My filter cost me $30 and change with my commercial discount. It came with a note stating to remove the water drain and replace with the sensor on vehicles equipped with a sensor, or something along those lines. I thought this filter only fit our CRD's

The OEM filter comes with those instructions, did you purchase and OEM filter?

No, NAPA filter.

The last fuel filter I bought for mine was also made in China. It was from Mopar. The first couple I bought were from Italy. Kids work for less...

I've been using the WIX filter. I believe it's the same MIC filter that NAPA sell.

Political, human rights etc aside, if you're worried about quality of MIC manufacturing it really boils down to whether you trust the NA brand putting their name on the product to do their homework. With the correct specs, sourcing and QC Chinese manufacturers are capable of producing high quality products. Apple, for example, are manufacturing in China and are able to produce a high quality reliable product.

At the end of the day they are capable of manufacturing to any spec we provide. Spec crap at a budget price and that's exactly what they'll provide so don't expect to get a good MIC filter from a dollar store!

Personally I trust WIX to only put their name on products they know to be high quality.

The OEM 10 micron filtration specification leaves something to be desired. I installed a Cat 2 micron filter between my OEM first generation fuel head and the CP3 pump :BANANA:

WIX makes NAPA filters and they are made in China. I have bought BOSCH filters for my CRD and they are also made in China :shock:

My $16 CAT 1R-0750 was made in the USA :BANANA:

When you pre-fill a new filter your opening up yourself to letting in dirt and that's not good at all :dizzy:

I've always used the NAPA filter, no issues.

The filter elements are made from the crushed remains of the children who died in the factories. You can't get that in a made in the USA product.

Haha, classic. I installed the NAPA filter this am and drove two miles. All was well. Looks identical to the Mopar UFI brand anyhow...
