I was rummaging around the web the other day and found out the American Expedition Vehicles ( AEV ) created a calibration tool for the JK which helped recalibrate tire size and gears which helped the ESP issue. They also partnered with Superlift when Superlift made the 4" lift for the XK and WK, and the tool does the same thing. For the JK its called Procal and for the XK and WK it's called EGR Module. Now, if you read the description and what both of those products solve, it's basically our needs. I have contacted AEV sales department and talked with one gentleman who basically said We don't have a product for you, but that isn't necessarily what I wanted to hear so i responded What if you had enough interest to have a product created. Now that is where I need all of your help. If you own a lift and have experienced this problem or ever intend on installing a lift, I would like your support in pursuing AEV in the creation of this product. What I would also like is for other people to find other products similar to this so we can pursue those companies as well. The market for the KK will not grow without pushing. I know this first hand as I have finally got some good new from several companies that I will release at a later time. Hopefully we can get things rolling here.

Update: Found another company... the company is called Hypertech. They make a product called Max Energy Programmer which can be installed and used to modify a bunch of features in vehicles. The information I have read about them has been read from users in the N!tro community that own the 3.7L V6. Most of the replies spoke raves about the product, how it fixed transmission shifts, but they said that all of the options were not available and they were limited to a certain amount of features at this point. I have contacted Hypertech to find out what features are available and when the other features would be available. I will let you all know how that goes.

i contacted aev about both of those products as a matter of fact. the gentleman i talked to explained how they worked and why they wouldnt for the kk. he stated that tire size is not the only thing that will trip the esp. he guestimated that it was 30% tire size and 70% on suspension. if your vehicle doesnt handle the same when it is lifted it will also affect the esp. generally all the suspension kits stiffen the ride and there is more lean due to the raised center of gravity. hypertechs website states that not all functions listed for the programmer would necessarily work on al vehicles. i had intended on buying the hypertech to test its functions after i returned from my deployment but ive been spending money on other interest. the part number for the hypertech module cross references with a lot of other mopar vehicles so it makes me wonder what other programmers would be usable. i hope you come up with some good news because im tired of pressing the esp button and staring at the light every time i drive.

Also Contacted DiabloSport about there handheld Predator Unit.

Dirty The button press thing is quite annoying I do agree. Obviously the suspension and angles play a big roll but I ran my truck with my 30" tires after the lift anf now I have 32's and it happens much more often now then it had. My request for a product was just sent to the electronics department so I will let you know if there are any updates ASAP

Also Hypertech claimed they would have support for the nitro including gears and tire recalibration. This being said they have not released any updates on it and I am waiting on there response

Does the button just cut down on ESP with the lift and tires or does it eliminate it completely? I'm just curious and can't check for myself, John knows how stock my truck is :oops:

The button just gives the truck a little more play before it kicks in, it is not completely turned off.

there is only one way to turn it off but it is only recommended for off-road use or use at the track. There has been no tune to correct our issue as of yet

I know, I hate that part lol. But the issues from the tires and lift, does the button fix that or does it still kick in, just less?

For the most part thr button worms but it for sure is not a good fix.

I thought "the button" kills the traction control, but stability program and roll mitigation are always on.

Got on the phone with hypertech and they confirmed the gear calibration and tire size calibration were there. I went ahead and ordered one to test out the product, The rep said if I don't like it to return it so I will let you all know the result.

ESP is basically traction control, all it does is raise the tolerance of wheel spin, so essentially the tires can slip more before it kicks in. ABS is tied onto the same fuse as ESP, and obviously ABS control your brakes. Now by pushing the button it obviously helps us having the issue, but it isn't a resolution, just a temporary, "hey this will work".

Keep us updated. I was also looking at AEV and Hypertech after I had my lift installed for these options (also to calibrate the speedometer with the new tire size, which the Procal seems to be the only one to fix that).

I have an update on this. As it turned out, the dealer was able to reprogram for my tire size. He told me that it wasn't perfect but was very close. No more issues even my speedometer is correct. :pepper: I was in there for something else so they hooked me up for thirty five bucks. Another one wanted fifty to check and another fifty to calibrate.

What size tires do you have? The dealer can only adjust for predetermined tire sizes. If they could change it to anything yours wouldn't be " as close as he can get it". This will not work for people with much larger tires then stock, ESP will still kick on.

I'm not sure what he did, he wouldn't tell me the details but I do know he did some math to figure out the diameter. Probably comparing to the sizes already there. I don't know but everything is working properly now and it hasn't kicked on again.

I'm running 30.5" diameter tires with a 2.5" lift. Went to the dealer and had them recalibrate/ initiate / relearn, the steering angle sensor. No more ESP issues on the right hand turns like I used to have.
Didn't think about having them set the tire size to the largest... This would probably help as well.

You will always have issues with the ESP while lifted.Part of the system has a gyro that can sense the extra body roll.You either have to severly stiffen the suspension to the point where it does not work(IE flex) or have a programmer to compensate for that part of the ESP system to eliminate all issues like the JK has(which no one will make for a KK).
