What points are you using to jack and support the vehicle? The jacking points described in the manual are obvious choices but you can't put a jack and stands under these points at the same time so any suggestion for where to jack and where to put the stands once it's off the ground. I've seen suggestions for the engine skid plate and rear diff for lifting the entire front or back end but are these suggestions really viable? The skid plate maybe but the diff scares me a bit. Jacking at these points would be convenient however as the entire vehicle could be off the ground and stands placed at the manual suggested jacking points very rapidly.

The differential is the strongest point in the vehicle. If you aren't jacking it up by the diff, the mechanic is.

I have heard that the skid plates might bend if you jack it up by them, but if you have a gas engine it should be fine. The only problem I see is that unlike the differential, the jack doesn't really lock into the plate and there is a potential for the jack to slip.

Of course, you could just install rock rails and use them.

Do not jack the your KJ up by the front diff,it's aluminum,okay for the rear diff.

You can use the jack point to lift it up and put a jack stand with Y shape right behind it on the same chassi/frame rail,i do this all the time when i work on it and never had o problem,as long as it is solid and leveled you d be safe,i did it again yesterday for changing a wheel bearing and switching the tires from front to back.Just lower it carefully when you drop it on the jack stand.

Never jack the from front diff or skid plate!!!

For the rear end,simply jack it up by the diff by being carefull it is centered.

First off do not use any skid plate to jack up on. Do not use any engine or transmission cross member. And do not use the front differential at any point you are just putting undo stress on an Aluminum item not a good idea at all.
