My bad, thanks for clearing that up.

just set it up exactly as he said and it works perfect. have speed, engine rpm, coolant, etc. I have boost pressure, but it sits at -29 at idle or off throttle, and only goes up to just about 0(under very hard accerleration from a stop). So im not sure exactly how much boost that is or if i have to calibrate it or something.

anybody wanna buy an ultraguage :-)r

I am at a standstill with improvements on this setup. I ordered a windshield mount for my phone and got sent the wrong one. Trying to exchange it but keep getting the run around by all parties involved. I will find another seller and get the correct one, hopefully soon. Until then I can't keep an eye on parameters and errors while my phone is in the cupholder.

Tried the ELM 327 today with my Samsung Epic and all but one time, the RPM reading on the Torque display was half of the dash tachometer displays. Somehow the Torque thinks my 2.8L 4 cly is a V8.
How can I set up Torque to read the right RPM?

Every time you change the OBD protocol (possibly other settings too) in Torque, the Jeep needs to be turned off and then restarted for the ECU to reset it's communication output to your device. I was having problems finding a protocol that worked until I figured this out. Once torque has linked to the canbus, the ecu continues to use the same output protocol until it has had power removed, key off engine off. I believe I have found a better working protocol, but like stated above, I can't fully test it until I get a windshield mount. It randomly locks up but the new protocol recognizes that vehicle is a jeep and also reads the VIN stored in the ECU. When it locks up a message scrolls across the top of the screen but I don't have time to look down, focus, and read without risk of a wreck.

After adding the "Extra PIDs for Ford vehicles" to the second profile on my droid for my 2001 4WD 7.3 PSD Excursion, the boost "gauge" no longer works when I set it to the Jeep profile. There is a tiny green light that lights up in each "gauge" to indicate that it is receiving data from the ECU.

Any thoughts?

Gauges work fine but I currently have a couple of DTC's. Torque is not reading these. Anyone else seeing this behaviour?

Little update. I drive one hour to and from work, on these long trips the torque software randomly searches for a new OBD protocol. It settles on the first one it comes to that has an RPM readout, wether or not any other gauges work, which is usually something other than the SAE J1850-VPW. I went back into the profile and reset it back to SAE but when it reconnects with this protocol, only the tach works. I have to shut the engine/electrical off and restart the jeep before it will reconnect with full operability. I am going to check on the Torque forums and see if this is a known problem, and if not bring it up to the software developer.

Hi there, are you still seeing this behavior?

Thanks!

Still seeing it but haven't ordered the windshield mount yet. I just had to buy 400 bucks worth of brakes so it might be a little longer before I get back to this.

Ordered windshield mount and opened up a thread on Torque Forums. Anyone else with problems feel free to post there so we can help improve the app. The developer takes users problems very seriously.

Engine oil temp will be the same as your coolant temp. :JEEPIN:

I will still, occasionally get kicked in the trans while running this. Is there anyway around it?

The data bus on the CRD is a kludge of different protocols and both the TCM and ECM wanting to be the master on the same bus  Chrysler tricked the transmission controler and every now and then it wises up and that's what your seeing. It sounds like this is the first to work more then 15 minutes without the transmission shifting to third at any speed. The popular scan gauge works only about 15 minutes before the TCM crashes :dizzy: The 06's are worse because they have traction control added to the mix :banghead:

Bringing this topic back to life, I noticed a boost gauge on Torque? Is that accurate?

Boost works. Just can't interest anyone on the Torque Forum to develop "extended PIDs" for the KJ CRD for significant $$$. I know from using a VAGCOM in OBDII mode that the KJ CRD ECU has oil pressure, oil temp and trans temp info available.

Hope you have better luck than me. The only "problem" I have had has been with my 7.3 PSD. When I receive calls on my Droid X with Torque running, the motor dies.

I had mine up and running for a day. Now, it says that it is connecting using J1850, but I still only get RPM and Throttle position. I am not sure if it is the vehicle, the reader, the phone, or what. I see others having success, and it is frustrating me that I can't get it working.

Exact same here, tach and TPS only. Glad to see that I'm not the only one with this issue. I also can't read or clear codes with this setup while my Equus 3110 does have some degree of success on the code front.

I believe the vehicle implementation is bad and some tools are better at managing it than others. There also seems to be some glaring differences depending on the year and ECU revision. As far as I can tell from reading around there seems to be better success with the 05 than 06.

I may have a turn of luck. I tried the Chrysler 9141-2 protocol and it was locking up after a short time. Today, I got an update to Torque and it appears to have fixed the locking up. If this appears to work, I will be in search of new PIDs.
