I Would only get the Mopar hitch just because it looks so much better since it was designed for the KK but as for price, whoever sells it cheapest online with shipping works too. MoparOnlineParts has it for 175.95 + Shipping

Hey Wingnuts, do you have any problems with that center trim piece when you have a rope hooked up? Seems like there is not much room there around where those hooks are.

I have a 2010 and mine has that little black trim piece in place too. What I am worried about is on my old KJ I used to put one side of the strap in each hook and then put the loop end around what i am pulling and it worked great. However i could see that if i was a bit off to the side it might pull on that black piece and would hate to break it!

Hey SD-KJ,

Did you have to cut out part of that plastic trim piece to get the hooks to fit? I've got additional plastic covering where the tow hooks go.

I finally got my tow hooks and I'm trying to get them installed today. I've got the same plastic grill between the tow hooks that wingnuts has and I can't figure out how to get the hook into the right location without taking the bumper off.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Did you insert to hook from the front or come up from behind the bumper?

Slip them in from the front through that square shaped hole. Remember they are side specific, so make sure your trying to put them on the correct sides. I'll assume your using that "m" shaped bolt, so that goes in first. To get a wrench in there, i layed on my back and got to it from underneath. It helps if you unhook the 3 clips at the bottom of your bumper and flex the bumper foreward a little.

I did exactly what he did and it was a sintch. took me not even a half hour. i pushed down the driver side hoses to get the hook in then it was no problem. they wont burst that easy lol

and a tow hitch from Uhaul only costs me $99.00

That was fun doing it 3 in the morning lol

so mods are an easy 1,2,3

Anyone kno if its possible to get just the single Drivers side tow hook. I bought the passenger side before i knew the old ones fit. I have the one on the back done too, that took 10 min not even, only thing I'm thinking is that there is one hole that is missing on the truck that must be part of the kjs but it is still on tight on tight

guess what happened to me..... i was being pulled out from being stuck and it took 3 yanks to rip my driver side tow hook right out from my frame. Now my frame has a HUGE hole/rip in it. i will post pix later. But here's the video of it happening. ( I let my friend drive and he got me stuck. it was the first day of a snow storm in Long Island, NY. it took 1.5 hours to get me out. i was stuck in the Jeep the entire time) ANYWAYS Here's the video....

If you watch, you'll see the the tow hook fly off....
Dont mind my ridiculous friends

and the racing slick was probably purposely placed there to mess with peoples trucks... :furious:

That sucks :x ...A friendly reminder to the rest of us to make sure tow hooks are installed right, torqued to spec. and even if so, there is still a chance of mis-haps... You're lucky to laugh afterwords and that piece of steel did not fly into somebody. A hardcore wheeler friend warned me about winch lines snapping and flying through the windshields so I was told to always weigh down the center of the line with a leather jacket or a wet blanket.

I had the same thing happen to the passenger side. It really tears the metal, don't it. If you talk to Mark at Detoursusa, he can make you up a backbone winch mount for that and it replaces the tow hooks. This thing is built like a brick doo doo house. 5/16" thick steel with brackets that attach to the uniframe and the front crossmember. That guy does excellent work. I haven't put mine on yet, I plan to post a how to when I do. :JEEPIN:
That was a real bad feeling when you heard that thump wasn't it. It gave me a sinking feeling deep in my gut, I only had about 15,000 miles on it then.
