 Post subject: OME 1.5 HD/MD lift...FINALLY LIFTED!!

Hey all!

So after 3 long years, I have finally lifted my Lib :pepper: . I went with the OME 1.5 lift (HD/MD springs and the Longer shocks in the back) and measured about 2.25 inches of lift. I did NOT install top plates or spacers.

Thanks to everyone on here who gave me good advise and great suggestions, you know who you are :D

I am very impressed with the ride, it feels a lot more planted and firm especially on uneven bumps and potholes.

While the lift is not big, it is higher and more importantly to me, levels out the front.

Anyways..here are the pics.... taken with my cell.

Keep in mind that the tires after the lift are a little bit bigger so the space difference from the top of tire to wheel arches might not look as significant after lift. (And yes I did measure the lift gains taking into account tire size difference....and still got 2.25 inches)

Now I am looking to upgrade my tires again....trying to figure out if I should go 245/75/16 or 255/70/16. I want the tires to stick out a little bit..that's the look i'm going for.. I am looking to get GY Duratracs....any suggestions would be much appreciated!!


Next on the list :

- Upgraded tires
- Powder coat stock rims black
- Blackout headlights
- Black hood decal

My :2cents: Save your money on the powder coating, and the new tires, and get yourself a set of soft 8's (or the like) with the backspacing you desire. I don't think bigger tires is gonna get you where you want to be width wise. Wheel spacers would, but :roll:

Hmm okay, that makes sense too.

Quick question for anyone...Any idea what setup this liberty has ? talking about wheel/tire combo...and how much backspacing? (i know it has the RK 3.5 on it which i heard is closer to a 2 inch lift)
I remember seeing this on here before but cannot track down the thread through the search option...

THIS is approximately the look I am going for as far as tire and wheel combo height and width goes

this is my rk lift with 265/70/16 on 16x8 with 5" backspacing.

i would say 16x7 with 4" of backspacing and 245/75/16 would give you a similar look. it would also save on a little bit of weight compared to my setup. heavy steal rims and tires will KILL power and mpg's. If I were to do it all again I would do an OME lift and 245/75/16 Duratracs on stock wheels... which will likely happen if I start de-modding a little bit to be more DD friendly.

Hey thanks for the info Dirty!

This is a noob question for sure but... with 16x7 wheels and 4 inches of Backspacing on a thinner tire (245/75 vs 265/70), will that be enough to have the tires stick out a little bit? I like the amount your tires stick out of the fender flares. i like the wider stance...

Does anyone have this setup on here? (16x7 with 4inch BS and 245/75/16). If so could you please post some pics or point me to where you have the pics up so I have some idea as to what it looks like?

Yes that should sit flush like mine. If you think about it the outside lip will be the same between 7" rim with 4" and an 8" with 5" back spacing. The extra inch of width would be on the inside.

Check out the KK tech forum and look at the stickies for a wheel and tire setup. I would link but I'm on my phone.

Looks good, I have the exact same set-up that kjon mentioned (4" backspace with 245/75/16 with an OME lift). I ran into issues with rubbing with that set-up, and added some conduit nuts up front for another .5" to help, and I trimmed my front bumper as well. I still get rubbing under compression sometimes so keep that in mind. This is the only real picture I have of how much it sticks out (I've trimmed more off since then to make it look cleaner).

If I were to do it again I would do what Dirty KK is saying by sticking with the stock wheels (and powder-coating if you want black). Between my steels and my load range E tires my MPG have dropped considerably (average 13-14 mpg).

Hey remdawg, thanks for the pic!

Yeah the more I think about it, I want to just leave it with the stock wheels on there (black powder coat) and get 245/75/16's in "C" load rating. This is my DD and I can't afford the MPG's to drop that much.

I might get 1.25 spacers and see if I run into any issues.
