Just installed the tune to my 05 and can definitely feel a difference in the way at accelerates. It's not "jumpy" at all but smooth and quick, gonna have to be careful not to be too heavy footed now so I can see some good mileage numbers. I plan on filling up the tank tonight to see what kind of a difference it makes.

I thought I was having an issue with the tuner at first but it ended up being a problem with my computer, used a different computer and everything went smoothly. Keith from GDE was helpful and quick to respond to my emails, couldn't have asked for better service.

I would really like to get this tune also. Glad to hear it makes such a difference for you. Please post your mileage updates. I have already talked my self in to the tune now its just negotiating the release of the funds from my wallet, I tend to be a little tight.

A little random, but relevant for those who are wondering.

Quote:
Below 80% throttle the ECO tune and HOT tune have the same engine efficiency for a given rpm and load. If one drives in cruise control both tunes would give the same fuel economy. The HOT tune tends to have slightly less fuel economy in real life for two reasons. First, it is sometimes too tempting to hammer down the accelerator and the HOT tune flows about 10-15% more fuel at full throttle. Second, the throttle map is slightly more aggressive than the ECO tune so it tends to launch harder from a stop, this also does not do any favors to the fuel gauge. As the fun factor gage increases the fuel gauge drops!!

I've got 2 cars that I drive regularly, the Jeep and a Jetta TDI, I love my diesels :) so it may take me a little bit to get some decent mileage numbers. I'm working on an almost all city driving tank right now, before the tune I was just under 20 mpg.

I've gained about 4-5 MPG average with the tune. I've put 65,000 miles on it since the tune.

Ive lost fuel economy since ECOtuning....

Its too easy to play with and hard to park.... amounts to about 200 miles more driving a month than before, and more attention paid to where the boys in blue lurk with their radar guns

when I DO manage to drive nice its up a good 3-4 MPG but fun eats that up all the time.

Best thing I did for the running of the jeep.

I have the hot tune, and my mileage has gone up from 18-20/22ish mixed. i drove slow as all hell before the tune, and now it gets revved to 2500 regularly, whereas prior to the tune i never went about 2000. I drive more aggressively, and still get better mileage

I got my eco tune in September 2010. I have to agree it makes it smooth and feels more powerful. I usually see 2-4 mph better than before the tune. Also winter Fuel and colder weather still cuts in to the economy.

Just ordered mine - waiting for the USPS to deliver it to England - based on past experience, I'm not holding my breath, but the delivery estimate is 2 weeks for the tuner. I was going to hold off until I'm back in regular work (not holding my breath on that either) but diesel at my local garage has gone up to £1.45 per litre - that's about US$2.20 per litre at todays exchange rate (I don't know the litre/US Gallon conversion rate). I drive in rural areas as well, and the diesel costs about 4-5p more per litre out there.

We are due a fuel tax rise of 3 pence per litre(with a corresponding increase in the VAT on that), and it's not going to get any better in the foreseeable future so I suspect that the tune will pay for itself just on economy grounds in a year or two, quite apart from the driveability benefits.

Ouch. I sometimes forget how bad you guys have it over there for fuel prices. 1 US gallon is about 3.78 liters. So you're paying about $8.36 per US Gallon unless I'm an idiot and screwed up the math somewhere. That's pretty crazy from our perspective, worst I've seen here was in California recently were Diesel was something like $4.40 per gallon. Here where I am in Texas it's generally between $3.80 and $4.00 a gallon.

Yes Mike - about 2/3 - 3/4 of what we pay is tax - fuel tax on the fuel and then value added tax on the combined price of the fuel and fuel tax! The tax rises (at an above-inflation rate) are supposed to help persuade us all to go green and encourage us to buy more fuel-efficient cars and drive less. That's assuming you can afford to buy a new and more efficient car

Well, USPS is living down to expectations. I just looked at the tracking for the tuner - it's been at the USPS international sort facilty in Chicago for the last 3 days. :( Just as well its a priority parcel, god knows how long it would take otherwise. And they wonder why people like UPS and Fedex are so popular.

I prefer USPS over the other ones. Note that USPS does not update as fast as the other shippers, sometimes it can be a couple of days before they update.

Everything I have heard is the USPS is faster for international shipping. :?:

A few months ago, I ordered a nylon 11 blade fan and the Hayden fan clutch to install when the weather gets warmer here(I have to do stuff outside). The fan came by USPS and the clutch was sent by UPS. Ordered the same day, both in stock, both shipped out the same day (according to the emails form the suppliers). The clutch arrived in under a week; the fan took nearly 3 weeks.

USPS Priority mail can take as much as 30 days even though they claim publicly it can be 2-3 days. If you ask them at the post office, they will confirm this, grudgingly that it is not guaranteed. Express Mail is the overnight guaranteed service, where the tracking actually works before they get the package to the destination.

Yea, that is a big problem I have with the Priority system - The "tracking" is merely "delivery confirmation" which is WORTHLESS for information. Until (and unless) the box gets to the destination post office and they attempt delivery... There will be NO information at all.

The only thing worse is with international shipments. NO tracking information with the USPS will cross the border. Once your box hits Customs on its way out... Your tracking information stops. This is a HUGE problem with international shipments, and can easily lead to fraudulent claims of "not received" by the international recipient leaving the sender with no recourse. Yes, this happened to me, but luckily I didn't lose any money from it, and Ebay seems to have eventually dropped the matter.
