2006 Liberty CRD airbag light on. Read code with my reader and it said U0121 which I think means lost communications with the ABS.....?????What could the ABS have to do with the airbags?

Not a clue unless airbag deployment is partially related to a signal from the ABS systems. As to the code if you don't already have a copy of the 2006 FSM from Sam's NOOB guide download a copy and run a search on the code. There are some diagnostic hints at least one of which is low battery voltage.
