I have a rattling noise coming from rear. Sounds similar to bad motor mounts but coming from the back. In gear or in neutral, tone changes slightly then goes away when idle increased. Muffler is snug, (thought it may have been vibrating/rubbing) but not the case. Any ideas? There is a small rubber bushing above the rear diff, could this wear out and cause rattling similar to front mount failure? Tranny mount?

If that rubber bushing is on the "V" shaped rear upper control arm it's possible.

I would check the parking break. A friend had the same problem and the shoe had come undone from the parking break.

Turns out it seems to be the muffler / cat. I strapped a bungee cord around it last night pulling it snug to the frame and the noise is gone. I think it may be the flex pipe wearing out....

I checked, they are all fine. Seems the movement and rattle is in the area forward of the Cat and resonates towards rear of vehicle.

No is is the muffler flex pipe wearing out. Now that it is strapped all is fine. For now....
