I'm looking into lifting my CRD, and I'm thoroughly confused, the Frankenlift kit http://www.boulderbars.com/frankenlift_crd.htm says 2-2.5 inch lift, but all other lifts with the same components (OME) says 1.5" http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-OME_1_50__lift_kit-634.aspx, any ideas? It appears that you can get all the same parts (but less expensive) from jeepinbyal, but only difference is the lift detail.

The springs are physically 1.5" longer
however they're also stiffer - so the actual height you get is ~2.5" - depending on front end weight (also how sagged your old springs were to compare to)

I emailed Rocky Road asking about the difference between:

OME kit

http://www.rocky-road.com/kjome.html

and the Rock Father kit

http://www.rocky-road.com/kjrockfather.html

And they told me the OME is 1.5 and the Rockfather is 2.5.

The Rockfather - uses the OME springs and it says it's an all spring lift.

you can get higher by adding a spacer (on top - not under the spring)

search on RRO - I wouldn't trust anything they say.

Wouldn't trust what who says? Rocky Road?

I myself don't know who/where to buy from. The Rockfather kit looked good to me?

RRO is Rocky Road Outfitters.
probably have to use Google advanced - the LOST search doesn't like RRO - Try rocky road

lots' of information - including a few defenders so you can see both sides.

personally I buy from All-J's or Jeeping by Al
All-J's supports LOST and both Heather and Quinn know KJ's backwards and forwards.
also Jeepin by AL.

Mine turned out to be about 2.5"

You might venture over to the KJ 4X4 discussion section of this board. There's tons of info.

i got the frankenlift, which is basically the OME springs and shocks paired together pre assembled. It netted me about 3.5 from EXTREMELY sagged suspension. so sagged that the cv's were actually at angled upwards(angeled up from the diff to the wheel).

edit: with a clevis lift/1/2in spacer in front and two extra iso's in the rear, i gained about another inch. im at 22" from the hub to the bottom of the fenders all around. about 3 inches of lift.

A Frankenlift gave me a true 4 inches of lift with OME springs f &r (but they add a daystar spacer in front). My Crd was sagged so the axles went up to the wheels like others have mentioned.
Now my faithful steed is level and rides great with no driveline vibrations.
More lift than I thought I wanted but turned out great.

FWIW, I have purchased multiple items from RRO and have received all in a timely manner. No problems with the products, and I had no problem getting someone on the phone to answer my questions about the installation of my budget lift. Going to upgrade to a full coil/strut lift up front as soon as funds allow; already have the rear coils and shocks.

With respect to the AllJs vs. JBA, both offer the following (you have to select the CRD HD options on the JBA page to get these):

OME790 Springs / NS131 Strut in front
OME948 Springs / N132L Shocks in back

- CRD Frankenlift lists for $863.94 and also comes with extra rear bump stops
- JBA OME lift lists for $765.00
- Neither price includes tax/shipping. Depending on where you're located, that might make the difference.

AllJs offers a pre-assembled option which saves some work but at a cost premium.

It would be inappropriate for me to steer you one way or the other but I've done business with both and haven't had any negative issues with either (other than UPS drop-kicking my shipments).

RRO's RockFather seems like a fine system and it appears they've added some in-house niceties (custom front strut cap spacer ,etc.) but I can't find the model numbers for their springs and shocks on the price list. Their pricing is very comparable to AllJs, I've never done business with them, so I'll leave it to someone else to either (or not) recommend them.

I am having trouble with the rear suspension on my 05 CRD. I have OME springs all around. It seems to have excessive sagging in the rear. When we hook up just a light weight trailer the rear sags like crazy. almost too the extended bump stops.

are there stiffer alternatives to OME rear coils?

What would the best option be for me?

I should note I have had the lift on for only 8 months

For towing - most folks add the rear air bags.

for a stiffer spring - Pablo got the rears from JeepinbyAL's 4" kit.

Make sure you have the ball height adjusted too. if it's too high/low it'll make it sag too much. I don't know too much about this specifically, but i've read it frequently on here.

I don't Tow - but Jeepster and Danoid do and they use air bags (ride leveling )

Jeepsters's lifted and he said the Toyota 4 runner bags work

Well, I bought the kit from Jeepinbyal, that was the best price, installed it yesterday with some Cooper Discoverer AT3's (245/75R16) and I love the ride. Noticed a little rubbing when I turn too tight, but I think I'm going to but some wheel spacers and hopefully that will remedy that issue. Another thing I'm noticing now is that when I hit 40-45mph, I get a small shutter, I'm assuming that with the load created by the tires is showing a weak Torque Converter, but I will monitor it and see if it gets worse, or just goes away. Adding a pick with my dog Moose Image

Looks good! How much lift did you gain? :JEEPIN:

And Moose is an appropriate name for your dog
