Didn't see that. I'll reserve final judgement until it comes out and everyone reviews it. But I'm not stoked about the FWD

From Allpar.com

The “Liberkee” below uses the front end and ride height that match the mule caught in spy photos.

Update: Pic isn't working. Go to http://www.allpar.com/SUVs/jeep/2014-cherokee.html

Image

Launching in the spring of 2013 as a 2014 model, the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee replaces both the Liberty and the Patriot in Jeep’s lineup. The Cherokee will seem pointless to some, being, in essence, a bigger, taller Compass, with similar styling and the same basic platform. Traditionally, Liberty/Cherokee have been a step higher than Patriot offroad; indications are that this Cherokee will be a step down, though Ralph Gilles and Sergio Marchionne have told the public to be impressed with its capability. Given the Jeep JJ, Chrysler might indeed hold surprises for us.

I wouldn't but any of that euro trash! With the slight exception of the jackrabbit if it's capable off road and probably not till it's old enough to mod heavily.

Are you guys awere of the fact that the KK was killed for the export market in June of last year?

I am sorry, but I think the Liberty/Cherokee is going to disappear.

There has been an interesting development as of late. I'm starting to think that maybe, just maybe....

The new Liberty will replace the Patriot/Compass....

and this other new vehicle, will replace the Liberty...

I could be wrong. The rumours could be wrong. We will not know until 2015...ish.

Care to share why/how you believe this? Whats the new development?

P.s. I read over in the allpar forums that you saw a Liberkee on the highway. It was Camouflaged right?

In regards to the latest Allpar guess at the body style, I really hope that's the patriot/compass replacement. If that it's the Liberkee I'll be disappointed. I'm not a huge fan of the Grand Cherokee look and I was hoping the Wrangler and the Liberkee would maintain a more rugged styling.

We don't know what the Liberkee will really look like. Yes, I saw the mule.

There's a new platform in the development stages that is RWD. Read around Allpar. Stick a transfer case in there, bam, Liberty replacement. :)

That sounds promising. I'll have to poke around Allpar.

It'll be a bunch of crap, as far away from the XJ as a RAV4 or a Nissan Joke ...ow sorry that's Nissan Juke....puke? I would...

There will be no real 4x4 coming out of the Ohio plant, except for the Wrangler JK / unlimited...which is already 'softened' to fill the void the Liberty (no longer available) left on the export market.....THAT IS WHAT CHRYSLER/FIAT SAID, NOT ME!

If you want a real JEEP...buy a TJ.

You sir are correct even if we don't want to face it. Sometimes I think that if one were to desire a true off road vehicle then it would have to be built from scratch. The only real problem with that besides cost is that it probably couldn't be made street legal because if government restrictions like airbags, abs, esc and so on. You'll have to admit though, they seem to be weaker every year since the tj and the xj. With the advancements in technology and materials made in the last couple decades, it's a bit of a bummer that they haven't been applied. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not but the jeep brand should be leading the way and not owned by some foreign company just messing it up. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they do. I'm sure though that we won't like it.

Are you sure it's for the Jeep brand?

Because there are rumors about killing the Challenger in favor of a smaller, sleeker replacement. (Baracuda) which would be RWD as well.

The Barracuda would likely be the platform for the REAL Liberty replacement. We'll see how things work out?

Maybe the Liberkee is the real Liberty replacement. Nobody knows at this point. Chrysler is beyond quiet these days!

Read Allpar. Remember, a PLATFORM is just a set of dimensions. It has NOTHING to do with parts or a floorpan, firewall, front wheel drive or rear wheel drive, nothing. Chrysler's LH program was originally set up for FWD or RWD. It could have gone either way at any point in time. It was later evolved into the LX program.

The LX (300, Charger, Challenger) is not actually BASED on an old Mercedes E-Class, it just USED to use components from that car.

You're funny.

I hate that Chrysler is being so secretive. A good viral promotion campaign works wonders for other industries.

But if they let everyone know they have better (or worse) vehicles on the way, the current lineup might not sell.

Challenge:
Someone who's good at Photoshop:

Take a Patriot, add the front end of the Commander, then put it up on 32"s with around 11" of ground clearance.

That's what a new Cherokee should look like IMO

I dunno about that. The front end was the worst part of the Commander. A lot say that the Liberty looks like a mini-Commander but I don't see it.

The new Liberty IMO should look like an enlarged Patriot, nothing more.
