Funny thing is my mpg's just seem to get worse over the years, from 16 city and 22 highway to now 9 city and 17 highway :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: ,can't figure it out at all why I get bad mpg's.

100% gas sure helps. 10% ethanol sucks.

I have been using an Amsoil air filter. It took my gas mileage from 17Hwy down to 13.5
2 weeks ago I replaced it with a FRAM, since the air in Seattle is not really dusty I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. This one change brought my mileage up to just shy of 20MPG from 13.5.
More power and quicker response too. I think the Amsoil filter restricted flow too much and the engine was pouring in gas to make up the difference for the "right" fuel/air mixture.

oh wait, but I shouldn't care if I'm getting 13 or 20 because that's not what I bought a Jeep for...

Interesting I get better with an Amsoil air filter
been running one for over 45,000 miles
and my average fuel mileage isn't too bad
on a recent 275 mile trip this was the average

That's called a Scan Gauge II and can be found at most auto parts chains and online.

Here is my mileage stats: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/LongTallTexan/liberty Last fill up this past weekend was higher than usual because it was 100% highway. 04/11 got Treadwright Guard Dogs 265/75-16 Load D. 04/12 got Cooper Discoverer ATP 265/75-16. Next week 4:10's are going in and expect to see a nice improvement with them too. I drive about 50/50 city/highway. Got LOTS of lift. 8)

After getting rid of the aftermarket, overpriced Amsoil air filter and replacing it with a cheap Fram filter my gas mileage went from 14-15 hwy to 24+ Hwy.

All Freeway at a constant 75 mph.

Are the 4.10's making that much of a difference? I'm barley getting 15.

I average about 21.5 mpg mixed city and highway driving. Not too great, but I understand pretty good for a Liberty. What surprises me is that I get about the same mileage in my Cherokee, with the 4 cylinder engine and 5 speed manual transmission.

Stock with bald stock tires: 20
215/85s e rated: 18
215s + daystar: 17/18

City or highway makes almost no difference in my mpgs. Edit: I never use my a/c and always have all my windows down and sunroof open. Unless it's raining.

When you combine it with the mixed driving with my scooter I average around 50/55 mpg

I noticed that after I put on my OME lift the last 3 fill ups have all been 2mpg better. I had been averaging 15 mpg mixed city/hwy and after the lift I've been between 17 and 17.5 mpg for the last 3 tanks. Not really sure why though.

Mine's a stock '06 3.7 limited.

Last HWY check was 23.7MPG averaging 60-70MPH

FRAM air filter, WIX oil and synthetic blend rather than either/or.

I was getting 13-14 max with Amsoil air filter, that's all I know.

Interestingly, on the same trip with this stated mileage I had stopped for gas and when I started it back up it was running a little rough. I idled it a bit while waiting for the wife to grab some groceries and it threw a "random misfire" code. I bought some platinum plugs to replace the copper cores thinking one might be fouled, but it seems to have worked itself out and has been running smoother than ever. It kind of purrs to me  :CAMPING:
