Democrat Point Speed Limit Warning 5/3/12
NYS Police has asked our LIBBA community to spread the word about their 'currently enforced' Zero Tolerance Policy for vehicles traveling at greater than 10mph on the sand while in route to your favorite fishing spots.
NYSP would like LIBBA Members to help by spreading the word based on these simple facts about their plans to diligently enforce this speed restriction to all NYS 4x4 Beach Access Permit holders.
Law enforcement has been seen this week on the Thumb and Demo beach areas stopping drivers who were exceeding this restriction and are noticably issuing written warnings directly on permit owner's NYS4x4 permits. We understand that a second incident of any similar infraction may result in the revocation of one's NYS4x4 Beach Access permit.
Be Safe and good 'catching' (not just fishing but catching) wishes to you..

So me, Jeff, and Dean had the morning free and decided to take a quick run out to the "spot" and get our lines wet.
The out come, a few bites, 2 fish swimming around with a diamond jig for a piercing and a good-ol time.

Always good to get out on the sand and do some fishing. Learn something new everytime, like not to leave the fishfinder on the line when using lures. Same Striper must have snapped my 25lb mono and petes 40lb braided! But at least we got a quick looksee before he escaped with a few lip piercings. :ROTFL:

Le me know if you head out this way.

Went out AGAIN to the "spot" today and was starting to feel a little skunky until the blues came in.

Shark Stew anyone? Got 2 of these guys out of the water today.
they were more or less 2+ footers. Some times I wonder what else is out there...
The picture is only of the first one. The second one was able the same size.
At first I thought it was a skate but the more I moved them closer to the jetty the feistier they got.

Blue fish all over the place today.

One of the guys next to me got a double header, one on the teaser and another on the white buck tail.

There was also a guy that caught a 14lb blue fish

Unfortunately demo is closed because of the plovers. U only have about 300' of beach to drive on and an area to park. After that u have to walk to what ever spot you want. The sore thumb os open but u have to be in there around 9am to get a good spot because that place turns into a parking lot. You can still fish but eehhh you'll be lucky if you catch any thing and always have to keep an eye out for people. Last thing you want is to hook a little kid and have a soccer mom screamen at you. If you just want to get out and enjoy the beach the thumb is for you. Im hitting the thumb onSunday with the wife for some sun.

Montauk for me is an easy hour to 2 hour ride....and that's from Lindenhurst. I can't imagine what it would be for you...
