Just installed 4 sets of ceramic pads from O'reilly on my 2006 CRD Sport. About a week later I'm off road and I start hearing this groan (front end I think).
I figured brake pads wearing in. So two weeks and 1000 miles more and the groan has not gone away. It usually starts when I'm beginning to
stop when I touch the brakes lightly. As I press the brake pedal harder it goes away. Sometimes I hear the groan softly when moving slow and not even
pressing the brake. The caliper pins seem fine and I lightly greased the contact points on the piston and caliper but it didn't help. Are the pads suspect or is something else going on here?

What brand of pads?

Cheap pads make noise. So does improper pad bedding.

The O'Reilly brand Best ceramics. I've used these on my 10 Rogue and they seem fine - no noise good stopping.
They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive only the ones they had in stock. I bought them since the old
pads were down to the rivets. I suppose I could buy another brand and see if that's the problem.

Yeah "house" brand pads tend to be the worst pads to buy.Did you replace the rotors or have them turned(if they could be turned)? If not that could be a issue also.

Oh and stay far away from wagner thermoquiets,or more commonally known to techs as thermosqueaks.A good set of semi-metalic pads maybe better suited for your application.

Install Raybestos Professional Grade ceramic pads. Still the same groan after driving several miles and lighting touching the brakes.
Not sure what to try next?

Did you replace or have the rotors turned? If not that is required with new pads. If you did try semi-metallic pads or it's not the brakes causing the noise.

I guess rotors are next. Normally I don't turn the rotors unless warped. The pads have always been the problem in the past.
The brake now groans while driving very slowly but stops when the brake is pressed more than lightly.

I tried ceramic pads once. No bite, hated them. I'll never get another set.
