I will have saved approximately $100 by the middle of next month to put towards something fun for the Jeep. Here are three options I'm thinking of. Which do you like best? Any other ideas for mods in the same price range?
1) a pair of KJ tow hooks for the front end: http://www.moparonlineparts.com/repair-parts.php/index.cfm?siteid=214954 (part number 82206124)
2) a small pure sine-wave inverter for the trunk for camping (hardwired to the battery of course, and hidden in the jack compartment): http://www.theinverterstore.com/180-watt-pure-sine-wave-inverter.html#
3) Weathertech in-channel vent shades: http://www.weathertech.com/jeep/2008/liberty/side-window-deflectors/
Thanks for your input! :JEEPIN:

I just did the KJ tow hooks. I got mine from a member here for pretty cheap. They're easy to do, if you get the M bolts.

Do you think a 180 Watt inverter would be enough?

Personally, I wouldn't do in channel shades. They look funny on the rear 3/4 window IMO

Let us know what you decide to go with :JEEPIN:

I was wondering that about the 180 Watt inverter too. My Mac Book struggles to charge and run at the same time with a cheaper inverter that creates the pseudo sine wave power, but this one is designed to be able to put out a pure sine wave and more efficiently run electronics. It's also small enough to fit into the jack compartment in the trunk, where I already have a 12V line to the battery. I can't imagine what I would need to run that draws more power than a computer. I won't be charging any unlicensed nuclear accelerators off my Jeep's battery!

I think there's a thread in the tech section about how to replace the stock power inverter with a more powerful one. You never know what you might decide to bring camping if you can power it  :jester:

You can't get an inverter anymore?

Pretty sure there isn't an option for it anymore. I could be wrong though.

I'd do the diy receiver front recovery system if you dont already have hooks.

I like my weathertech ventshades for the function over the looks but I like the looks too. They seem to work better than the ones that are on the outside of the channel, maybe because they're closer to the window. :2cents:
That's a pretty good price for the hooks. Try to get the other style bolt though. The one that is supplied when the hooks are put on at the factory are different and probably a lot stronger. One of mine got pulled off during a recovery. I've found that this isn't an uncommon occurance. I put on a winch to replace the hooks. I still have them but one of the brackets got a little bent. Be careful during recoveries, no yanking on the front, just pull. They're strong but a couple hard jerks on a very stuck jeep equals tow hook on the ground. That's a very bad feeling, trust me. :JEEPIN:

Tow hooks are good place to start, extend your breather tubes as your Jeep will be thankful the next time the roads are flooded. $164 plus tax gets you 3 skid plates minus the fuel tank skid from your local Jeep dealer if they give you the discount like I got, a simple install.

You could get a CD, coax cable, and antenna for about $100 which can be a lot of fun!

I put on a cargo cover for $115 which was a plus for me.

A little follow up to this old thread of mine...
What I ended up getting was a SUV hydraulic floor jack from Advance Auto ($79) to do my oil changes and tire rotations. I already own jack stands, but it was always a pain to crank the OEM jack that comes with the Jeep!
I also ordered the air inlet housing with the cabin air filters that comes on the Limited models ($36 shipped). MtnLvr has a great how-to thread about installing it, and that will be my next weekend project.
Next up: Fumoto oil drain valve? (~$35)
Still would love to hear any more suggestions! :D

Are you sure you don't have a cabin air filter? Mines not a limited and I have one. It's right behind the glove box, just open it past the stops and you should see the door.

When you order your cabin filters, mopar packs two in the package and lists it as one filter. You'll need both to cover the vent. I ordered two thinking there was one in the package and now I have a spare.

Hi Ted15,
Yeah, I looked behind the glove box and there is no filter door. The housing looks just like the one MtnLvr removed and replaced in his how-to thread. Maybe by the 2010 model year Jeep made all the KK's with cabin filters, but mine is an '08 Sport and unfortunately it didn't get that option. How often does Jeep recommend changing the cabin filters?
Thanks,
LFH

Hi.
I don't know how often they recommend but when I found out I had one and checked it, it was pretty plugged. That explained why my defroster barley worked last winter lol. I only have 20000 miles. It seemed like it got dirty very early so I'd check it often.
