Recently I purchased an extremely old tent trailer (1976 Venture, haha) and I took it out this weekend for the first time. My Lib was able to pull it, but it felt like it was a bit of a struggle. The trailer (loaded) only weighs about 2500lbs. I was revving about 2500 RPM the whole time (O/D off of course) to maintain 95km/h (60mph), which resulted in some pretty atrocious fuel mileage. Does this sound about right or is something not right here? I thought this would be a piece of cake for the Lib but apparently not...

I have an ARB, 2.5" lift and 245/75/16's Duratracs.

What was your mileage
with my 6X10 enclosed loaded ( and about 18 inches higher than the KJ ) I only get about 16 or so average
with my 5X8 open with 1500-1750 lbs I get 18-19 on open highway
Maybe time to regear and gain some back

If you're driving in the MTS.... or even hilly area's..... it can be rough
I get better mpgs with no cruise control while towing in the MTS....

The last I towed anything was my move from Ft Lewis WA to Ft Carson CO.I pulled a 6x10 enclosed trailer that weighed 4200lbs total. With OD off and keeping it between 60-65mph I averaged about 16mpg's.I was lifted with 265/75 MT's but also had 4.10's.I couldn't imagine how low it would have been if I had 3.73's still.

I just calculated my mileage and it came to be pretty much exactly 15 MPG. It was on mostly flat terrain with a few hills, though wind may have played a factor on the way there. So I guess my only way of improving this would be to re-gear? It's something I've considered for awhile. I'm assuming with parts/labour it's a pretty expensive job?

It can be, I'd count on spending $1200-1800 or so for front and rear for everything.
