Sounds like a dumb question, I know. The front U-joint is bad causing a vibration, so I was just going to change it out, wrong. Advance and Autozone don't have a listing for a front drive shaft U-joint, NAPA doesn't even show that they made any 4-wheel drive Libertys from 02-07. No one offers a complete unit either. Is this a dealer only?

Alright need some clarification do you need the CVs for the front axle drive shaft or the rear axle driveshaft. Because here is the list of U-joints for the rear driveshaft http://m.napaonline.com/Tablet/parts/ProductFinder.aspx?t=%3fNe%3d25000%26Ntt%3d%26%3fNe%3d25000%26%3fNe%3d25000%26N%3d599001%2b102005%2b50038%2b2038037%2b4038013%2b5999999%2b27910%26Ntk%3dCategory the front axle driveshaft only has CVs and you will need something like this http://www.driveshaftparts.com/cv-joints-shafts/jeep/jeep-propshaft-cv-joint/prod_430.html .

Neither of those. My front drive shaft from the transfer case to the axle has two universal joints, not CV. It has been replaced at some point because there are reman tags on it and it's painted. Who ever installed it didn't bother installing the grease zirks and one failed.

Are they suppose to have CV joints to the front axle?

Yes, the front driveshaft has CV units. If yours has U-Joints it has definitely been changed up from stock. Crawl under and snap a couple pics and post them so we can see what you've got and maybe someone can help out. It would be interesting to the rest of us to see how it was done too.

Posting pictures on this site is complicated so I opted for the next best thing.

This is a pic of the shaft. If they orginally came with CV joints and no part stores offer listings for replacement shafts, then I have no idea what this is off of. Any suggestions?

Some one has had a custom shaft installed
Its easy to find out what size you need just measure it
Go to NAPA and they can measure the U Joint, Its hard to tell what they used but I would guess more than likely U Joints used in a dana 30 in a Wrangler or Cherokee
But for different sizes
For instance Chrysler Dodge and Plymouth used to use 315G or 316 series u joints
Ford Mercury used 514Gs, 429 if front 430 if rear also had 433s and 434s
