Age Old Question

Hey everyone,

I've got an 07 kj and I'm about ready for a new set of tires. I'm just starting out and I'm in the market for a good, lower priced lift. (college priced) I'm needing this jeep to last me for years to come. I was looking into some of the cheaper end lifts from rocky road outfitters but I'm sorta scared by some bad reviews of the company. What's your opinion and recommendation for a decent priced, quality lift?

So what do you really want
A good quality lift with a decent price is going to run in the 750 range
Anything cheaper and you'll be kicking yourself in the rear for a long time
You say you want it to last for a long time so spend the money and go OME sprins and either OME or Bilstein shocks
Check jeepinbyal for parts or AllJs

Dont forget factoring in costs for a front end alignment and possibly install costs. I went with full OME. A bit more than i wanted to spend but I know it will last me a good long time

Plus the ride with the new springs is great. Much better than when new.

Skimp on rear shocks if you need someplace to cut costs, easy to replace those down the road.

Most when they say cheaper they want a full spring lift with all new shocks for 250 bucks

Look at 927 front springs and 948 rears
If buying OME rear shocks get the 132Ls
Other things you may want to do and there will be someone to help walk you through it

yes because the springs alone will give you more lift then stock springs.

listen to tommudd. he's normally correct.. although the only experience he has is cutting a few coils off his cavalier springs to make it ride lower :JEEPIN:

he said it rides really well.

Yep, just with springs you are going to get 2-2.25 inches of lift
The 132 OMEs are same length as stock so even if you would twist it up a little bit it would limit the travel and top out the shock

I have a daystar lift. It is not as good as the ome for sure, but it still does mostly the same stuff. I live in Florida so it was all I needed. The biggest difference you are going to see with the ome over the daystar is how quickly you start to get wheels in the air. In situations where it feels really scary with the daystar, it would feel much more planted with the ome.

I tend to not listen to people. I am a college student without tons of money. I have tires people think are too skinny and a lift people think makes the Jeep ride rough. With my load range e tires and my spacer lift my Jeep rides like...well a Jeep. It doesn't bother me.

If you want to do it right the first time, listen to Tom. He is telling you the right way. I plan to eventually replace the daystar with an ome, but the difference in $150 and $750+ was a big deal for me. I still wheel the hell out of my Jeep and it works better than stock, and I can still afford to put gas in it.
