I'm getting nowhere with CV joints. Are they even available separately?

I did get some fan clutches & serpentine belt tensioners for stocking.

although be very careful of 'new'
- one of the issues tjkj pointed out was that some of the 'new' CV axles from Advance and Autozone - are physically shorter
- not much but put side by side there's a difference and it kills CV joints quickly

That's why folks recommend NAPA rebuilds

What do you mean by shorter?
CV is physically shorter or the entire CV axle assembly is shorter, meaning they are using the wrong length axles?

Ok, I guess I'll be finding out for sure. I'm changing out right side this weekend. Bought both left and right axles, new GSP brand, from Advanced Auto. I've already swapped out drivers side and the axle assembly was exactly the same length as the stock unit I took out.

Actually was a bit impressed with the new drivers side GSP assembly, the boot was thicker and looked more durable than the stock boot.

I'll report back once I have the old one out. i'm hoping that it was only the gasser shafts that are too short.

Put the right side in this weekend. Assembly was exactly the same length. I measured them together both compressed as far as they would go and extended as far as they would go. Also measured the length of the CV assemblies.

Maybe they got the wrong part number, got the CRD version instead of the gasser version.

Erling do them for sure. I think Fel-Pro may also, at least they have the torque specs in their guide which would suggest they may do the gasket also.

Elring does indeed stock them, in steel no less!

I hope that Advance got tired of replacing dead axles - actually got a tape measure and decided that getting a 'New' supplier was better than replacing axles that don't fit.........but who knows

Glad they worked.

Spent my Saturday wrestling with an AutoZone "too short" axle. Was not a good day. Ended up getting an EMPI axle instead for the same money. Still not as nice as OEM - aftermarket axles tend not to have the same heat-treating around the ball-bearing grooves.

I couldn't find the gaskets on Federal Mogul's Catalogue. Can you get a part number for the Fel-Pro gaskets?

So, as has been the case off and on forever it seems, OEM tensioners are backordered nationally.

IDParts is going to start directly importing them from Europe, though, so we should have a reliable supply from here on out.

Thanks everyone.

I got really good service after ordering the gasket for my glow plug replacement project. Thanks! I will be looking to purchase the timing belt change kit soon. I have 77,000 on mine and put about 10,000 a year on it but figure I better be collecting the parts while they are available. I made the last payment on her last week and she is all mine! I really want the GDE TCM tune though. I am leaving her sit until I get the glow plugs changed since #3 is throwing a code. I read to many bad stories about broken plugs trashing an engine. I got the new metal plugs from Italy and the gasket from IDParts. She should be rolling again this weekend.

Thanks for the kind words Scott.

Anyway, this weekend I went to do a cleanout of all the gunk on the fresh air intake for interior air. I had a whole bunch of helicopters, leaves etc. on it.

Well, getting to that involves removing the plastic black cover at the bottom of the windshield. Its held on by push-pin style fasteners. I didn't realize this so I broke them.

So, I've got these in stock too in case anyone has made this mistake themselves...

So what decision did you make regarding the stocking of Koni Shocks for the KJ? I am interested in buying a set of Koni 8240-1201SPX front shocks. What kind of price are we talking about for the Koni's?

I have a 2005 Liberty CRD with the Euro TC, GDE ECO-FT, In-Tank Lift Pump, Steel Glow Plug Conversion. Its a great truck.

My company, IDParts.com, has been a VW TDI specialty shop for more than 7 years. I have found it frustrating how hard it is to get parts for the CRD, especially in comparison to how easy it is to get VW TDI parts.

So, I've decided to do something about it. I care about my CRD and I want to be sure I can find the parts I need in the future. I've been using my connections to try and get parts for my truck over the years and now I hope stock and offer some of this stuff to other CRD owners. It has been tough - I don't know my way around the Mopar catalogue as well as I'd like.

Right now I have an aftermarket Timing Belt Kit (OEM Tensioner and Water Pump will be upgrade options coming), Filter Kits, Oil Kits & Bosch rebuilt injectors on the site. We have a relationship with Koni so I'm considering stocking Koni suspensions for the KJ as well.

I know I'm pushing the regulations with this thread so I'm not going to do any other advertising outside of the vendor section. My hope with this thread is to get some feedback as to what people need, are having trouble finding or can only find stuff at outrageous prices. Hopefully if I can get enough volume so that I can go to the good brands and reliable supply of parts directly from the manufacturers.

Thanks

Wow, great website. I just spent the past 15 minutes browsing parts and am very impressed. For some reason, I figured the turbo would be alot more expensive than that. I sure wish I had known about the timing belt kit option when I had mine done, I spent a fortune on those same parts.

Thanks fastring, anything I do to my truck / have done in the past I'm trying to have a reliable, well priced inventory of. Let me know if there is something you need that I don't have listed.

So far there have been a few things I just can't get/find - namely axles and CV joints.
