Some guy looking at my '05 LTD I have for sale said a Jeep dealer warned him to get an '07 or later Liberty because the earlier ones have a tendency to roll over. Fer cryin out loud, all the time I have spent reading this forum I have NEVER seen that mentioned. Sounds like typical stealership BS to me but I am asking, anything to it?

BS... He's dissing the older Liberty to make a sale.

The Jeep Liberty CRD is not a tippy Jeep wrangler that's for sure.

Those other libertys also don't have what we have in the CRD - 500 lbs of solid IRON sitting low in the body. The engine block of the CRD is a big heavy mother, which makes this a VERY stable SUV unless you do something stupid like put a 6" lift under it.

Typical dealer BS. From all my dealer experiences, and hearing about those of my friends and family... I wouldn't trust a dealer sales droid to confirm for me that the vehicle's tires had air in them. They'd probably say that THEIR dealership fills the tires with alpine spring air, while the OTHER guy down the street uses sewage methane from the landfill.

To paraphrase Mark Twain... A car dealership is nothing but a full parking lot with a liar in it.

Thanks for the confirmations. When I got my CRD in '05 I could not see how it could weigh 4300 pounds, it's just not that big. Then I crawled underneath of it and saw all that machinery between the wheels. Rolling over was just not a concern.

The :rollover: info was based on two 'journalists' that couldn't drive for doo doo and rolled over a 2002 or 2003 Liberty. They were driving too fast thru some pylons and couldn't even be sure what speed they were traveling at the time...It was just plain Ridic. They also didn't have the ESP ect. that we have now...

it was an 02 when they were first introduced, they ran it through an autocross /slalom and rolled it -
scared the heck out of Jeep and they reduced the spring height to prevent it from happening again....and to keep the Lawyers at bay...

(however that's why we put lift's on them...)

I don't think NHTSA's data supports that as an issue.

I have lapped the Nuerburgring in mine, it never rolled over. I have auto-x it as well, never rolled. I haev driven it on the German Autobahns at speeds up to 127mph, sustained between 100-110mph, it has never rolled. I have tried to spin it 360 deg on a wet skid track, it never rolled over. Not sure what they are talking about.
