It took me 4 + years to finally get the OEM Euro taillights for my KA. During that time I looked into buying a set and having them shipped to the states. Cost from UK $1,200, Italy $1,600, and Australia $2,000.
For some reason Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, just don't want to sell Euro parts here in the states.
I was able to finally do it with a lot of help from friends and contacts at a reasonable price. I even had the Euro part #s, and a Euro VIN #, 4 + years is a long time to wait. Unfortunately, the place I was finally able to get them from said that they would never do it again. Too much hassle and time involved.
I wish the KA came with the KK style lights, would have made this Mod real easy as posted in this thread.
Here are a couple of Pics of the KA tails.

I always like the amber turns and fell in love when I first saw them on an 07 Euro KA.
Then the 08 KK came out with them and I was real jealous.
In Europe the bottom light is used as a "rear fog light". They turn on with the front fog lights.
I connected them to the brake lights, for now. Hopefully soon I will also connect them to the running lights as they are a dual fulfillment bulb. But this will be a little tricky as the backer (bulb socket) plate does not have connections in there for it.
Too bad the KK tails are taller and wider than the KA, it would have been an easy swap.

I was about to ask that question about the KK tails these look /very/ similar but i didn't realize there was a size difference. Wierd.

I know! I was excited at first, then I took some measurements and was not a happy camper.
The Euro KA lights have larger white sections then the KK's. But other than that, they are very similar.

Sorry to the OP (ken5124) for the hijack... This is a great Mod and looks fairly easy to do.
Thanks for taking the time to take Pics, and posting about the install. Looks great and should have been OEM I think.

Great work in perservering to get those! When I had my '07 Nitro it always annoyed me about the dim red turn signals.

Hi from New Zealand!

I didn't realize the Nitro came with all red tail lights!! All of them here are the 'export' ones with orange indicator.

The bottom lamp in a KK or a KA here is indeed the rear fog but it is independent fom the front ones by way of a different position on the switch. You can have rear only or front and rear.

I would like to convert my XJ from export tail lights to Wagoneer all red type! Now that is tricky as they seem to be in very short supply even there in the US of A. I can live withpout the rear fogs!! Have to have them in Europe tho.

my :2cents:

Oliver

PS: I would happily try and get 'export' lights for you all if you want to contact me. I can try wreckers and new if no wrecks are available.

Is anyone able to see the pictures that Ken originally posted? I'd like to do this mod but pictures are worth a thousand words. Thanks.
