I recently experienced a wierd thing when driving at low speeds on local city stretts. A couple of times at very light throttle and a steady speed around 20mph, I began to lose power and the "4 lo mode" light came on. I would let off the go pedal and the idle was smooth. Eased back in to the throttle; had full power and light went off. I didn't get the codes read, but have an appointment at the dealer Monday. Any ideas??

I would inspect the wire bundles in your engine bay for damaged wires. 4 lo mode should not be associated with low power.

The US version of the Libby CRD was supplied with only one transmission/transfer case combination, as far as I know. I know nothing about what our Canadian brothers (and sisters) were supplied. I do know that the gas versions for the US had several such.

My CRD has a transfer case shifter that has 2 WD, 4WD (part time), 4WD (full time), neutral, and finally 4WD Lo on it, and the indicator lights are on the display below the tachometer.

The sensor that causes the lights to display is in the transfer case and is supposed to sense the position of the shifter, and it sometimes goes bad, reporting a position that is not true.

If you get "4 Lo" light displayed, and you haven't moved the shifter out of either 2 WD or 4 WD (full time), whichever you normally drive around in, the sensor has failed and needs to be replaced. This is not an expensive repair, and it should be noted that just because the sensor reports a bogus transfer case situation does not mean that anything else is wrong; the transfer case actual position is entirely controlled by that shifter, not by the light/sensor.
