I'm the proud new owner of a burgundy 2006 Liberty CRD Limited with about 130km on the clock. This is my first Jeep and I'm already enjoying the "prestige" of owning a rough-and-tumble mini-truck like this :)

I've printed and read the Noob Guide a few times and I've got several outstanding items to take care of. However, I spent the majority of the weekend taking care of some critical items.

Before purchasing I noticed the brake rotors were badly worn so I bought a set of Raybestos Pro-grade rotors for all 4 corners, as well as matching ceramic brake pads. On disassembling the rear rotors, my friend noticed that the emergency brake shoes were also gone so we went out and bought a set of replacements for those. The drum slider mechanism was seized so that had to come out, bead blasted and reassembled. On the pax side the dust shield bolts were rusted and the heads broke off ... not good since the dust shield holds the shoes in place. So we cleaned it up and tack welded it so it's not going anywhere now. It feels good and safe to have fresh brakes all around. I also changed out the oil with a Napa Gold filter and Rotella T6 diesel engine oil that was on sale at Canadian Tire.

Other than that, the interior wasn't filthy but it was not up to my standard of cleanliness. I disinfected all the surfaces with spray cleaner and vacuumed all the dirt out of the carpets and crevices. I used Macguires interior spray to treat all the plastics, dash and rubber seals, and finally treated all the leather with Zaino cleaner and leather-in-a-bottle. The interior looks great but the exterior needs a good wash and wax.

This week I'll change out the fuel filter and clean the MAP. As well, I have a set of Air Lift 1000 suspension airbags on order, so those will need to go in next week. I plan to use this as my tow vehicle for my Miata track-car, so I'll probably do the transmission and differential fluids soon too.

Yup, I'm a Jeep newbie and so far I'm loving it. Jeep! :JEEPIN:

Welcome aboard and I just have to ask has the timing belt replacement been done? If not that's a do immediately item.

According to the service schedule the timing belt needs to be done at 160km = 100k miles. So I have another 30km or so left on the timing belt. I come from a Honda background where timing belt changes are critical (interference engines) so this is not unfamiliar to me :SOMBRERO:

Good that pesky m. vs. km. tends to throw me. Lots of good DIY writeups. Not too hard just tedious and you need the right tools or good substitutes.

Welp, I just came in from changing the fuel filter. Thanks to "silica" for the write-up here viewtopic.php?t=35702

I didn't crawl under the car, but instead unbolted the fuel filter head from the chassis (2 x 13mm's) and was able to reach down to undo the water connector at the bottom of the fuel filter. The rest was the same as his write-up ... but I didn't have any of that Stanadyne Fuel Additive. Hope that's not a problem ... I just primed and bled the air out of the system, then I turned the Jeep on and let it idle for a few minutes. No leaks so I suppose all is ok.

Next up is to clean the MAP sensor.
