I know that people are currently down on ID's water pumps, but how about them for Serpentine belt, tensioner and idler pulleys?

Folks are not happy with the Crown water pump regardless of who sells it. ID parts sold the Crown water pump for a while but I don't see that they do now, at least their TB kit only shows the OEM WP. IIRC they have discussed the WP problems with Crown and Crown has a new design with a better bearing that some are testing.

Belt is Gates which is as good as any TB out there, tensioner is OEM (litens), don't know about the idlers. Might be best to ask direct.

All the parts we did yesterday, were from idparts. The idlers and belt tensioner seemed as good as ome. My seep belt was significantly tighter than rixram had put on. Not sure why, time will tell though .

The Jeep has an incredibly long belt, which means that the belt stretches a over time, probably enough to make the new one feel really tight.

We had 2, ordered separately one fit easily the other we had to 'influence' to get it on.

Darn thing was so tight that I was sure we were not going to get it on. Once it WAS on, the engine could barely crank over. It needed a jump-charge for 20 minutes with jump-start just to get running.

Were I from MN, I'd say, "Uff-DA!"

Did you get the Crown or Cons-Tech? Did you get one of each?

Hopefully Striper can weigh in as to whether he got a Dayco as well, or something else. Rix's definitely is tighter than I would prefer to deal with.

Son of a ...............CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!

The new serp belt tensioner that I just put on 4 months ago? The b@stard just came apart and wrecked my serp belt as well (second part was to be expected considering the first part).

rixram - it's certainly possible for a new serp belt tensioner to fail if unlikely. Makes me wonder about your alternator clutch pulley; if that's bad it causes "whiplash" in the belt that bounces the tensioner severely and can easily destroy the tensioner.

X2

I replaced my surpentine belt at 50k and again at 55k after the dealer installed a new alternator for a bad overrun clutch pulley.
If the overrun pulley was not needed Chrysler sure would not have used one
