Well, as some may remember, we traded in the CRD on 4/28 on a 2012 Subaru Outback 6 speed for the wife... its is a pretty decent car, but recently, thanks to a friend who has a CRD, I have gotten the itch to get another. :JEEPIN: I knew the Subaru dealer auctioned my Libby, and thanks to the power of :google: , I was able to keep an eye on it via its VIN. I found a semi local Jeep dealer got it, and this past week I started to investigate. They are asking a little more than we got for it in trade, plus they fixed a few things... so I decided that I will buy it. I am supposed to go this week to buy back my own vehicle... call me crazy, haha. :dizzy: The wife loves her car, but I miss the darn tractor! I sold my '84 Volvo 240 diesel today, which I poured a ton of blood, sweat, and money into a few months ago to rebuild the engine and make the car right, but I could use the Libby more than the Volvo, so I decided to sell it and buy back my Jeep! :pepper:

As long as you are happy I'd say it's not insane.

Well, You're NUTS and welcome to the club.

I Totaled mine and soon after I bought another.

CRDers that know their vehicles and maintain them correctly, learn to love them.

Sometime it's a lonely, lovely, invigarating place to be, ind we are in a class of our own, I've come to the understanding that only a CRDer can easily understand a CRDer.

Wow... You got a chance to escape the asylum, and you are willingly walking back in the front gate?

Not sure if that is something to be commended or not. Welcome back, ya lunatic. :goink:

Haha... It's not the first time, either. Had an 05 CRD and sold it, then bought the '06 about 4 years later, traded it in, and am getting it back... yeah, I am nuts. :dizzy:

They replaced the FCV, which was indeed bad, and reversed the ORM, aka, plug in the air flow meter. I have a list of stuff, mainly maintenance, however, I was on top of maintenance and it was current when I traded it in.

so easy to fix stuff..

I know that other people drove the Crd, stock, off road..they wouldn't put up with a gas jeep again..
my dad has a CJ and the libby does way better off road..low end torque..at idle than his 4L gas..

and its fun to drive on the road..

what about GDE tunes? I know I would like to add the list to my wifes but using mostly biodiesel( homemade) its hard to justify the cost..it already has Segr done..

Mike,
Use your in depth knowledge of this vehicle to point out every fault/defect in the vehicle to nickle and dime the dealership to less than what you got it on trade in. Don't forget to use the old adage that diesel is more expensive than gasoline.

Its funny how dealerships work, when they sell a diesel they advertise it as rare and when they try to beat you down on a trade in price, they mention how fuel costs more and nobody wants a diesel. Good luck!

I understand. I one time was going to trade in my Freightliner FL50 back in 2006 for another Sprinter. Had the deal all set, dealer found a buyer for this utility truck that was very hard to sell, had the truck completely empty of all materials, tools etc. So it was the weekend and it was getting traded Monday morning, and I almost wanted to cry. Well the biggest issue I had at the time was that the clutch was so hard it was causing me foot pain, so I drilled a new hole on the clutch bracket so I could connect the rod closer to the clutch pedal shaft. I ended up with an easier clutch and called the dealer and told them I am sorry and I am not going to make the deal. I did finally trade it in 2010, the utility body was rotting out, the DOT was starting to pick on smaller vehicles due to the poor economy and lack of big rigs on the road, and age was catching up to me and I wanted something easier to drive. So now I own another Sprinter, diesel yes, but my FL with the Cummins was the best and most robust diesel out of all of them.

welcome back man. I think its funny you traded the CRD for an outback, when I got my CRD I traded my beloved White frost Outback Limited sedan. I do some times miss it and wish I could have afforded to have them both but the Liberty has been so good to me and so much fun to drive I don't regret it.
