Well I am seriously considering a SFA, however at 4500 I think I might have too pass. I was hoping somewhere in the 2000-2500 region. Cause at 4500 plus a couple hundred for a new axle, plus about another 1500 to regear and put in a front locker. That comes out to almost 6500.

I just want a functional 4-5" IFS lift and a way to run 33s.

Even if someone came out with such a lift, what would you do about the front diff? If you are going to wheel it, especially with 33's, you will need to do something about that as well. Also factor in gearing if you are planning to run 33's.

Later,
J

Well heres the skinny on the SFA for the KJ...its in the works right now...completion date is set around October to November...we will start testing the rig in November to December....we will test it for approximatly 3-4 months..and it will be true testing..we will be taking it to Big Bear, Calico, Johnson Valley, Arizona, and the unveiling will probably be at our LOST event in Moab in April 2006. I know that seems like a long way off, but to develop this kit right its going to take time. At this time I can tell you it will be a complete bolt in kit, no welding required, at least thats the goal, unfortunatly there will still be cutting involved, as for the height of the kit..we are staying conservative because the KJ is top heavy...probably enough to comfortably fit 33s...not sure about the price range yet, we will be working on that as we go, but trust me..it won't be out of hand for what it is, some will still cringe at the price, but the people that will truly use this kit will understand why the cost is what it is, and have no issue paying for a quality suspension upgrade. Well thats all I can say for now, I can not reveal who is working on this kit yet or any other details for obvious reasons, but trust me...its coming, this is not just talk, a year from now there will be a great SFA kit out there for Liberty owners..thats all for now...later...Wally

Actually my statement "and a way to run 33's" was meant to cover a way to deal with the front diff as well. (as that's the only other thing holding you back after you lift 4-5 inches).

Wally, I think you got a bunch of guys drooling and "standing tall" if you know what I mean (trying to be clean here).

I probably won't go that far to change my KJ (money mainly), but I am all for a great product and to make the KJ even more off-road worthy and to have 33's on it to romp around on.

A salute to all those working on this project. May she come out with flying colors.

Thanks for the update Wally. Hope you're not still "on foot" by the time Calco hits (althought it would be fun to see a mini cooper take that on)

I've never heard back from them either....oh well....It sounds like this will all be a moot point next year. I don't know if I'd be willing to swap out for a SFA though. I wish someone would do a beefier/taller IFS upgrade.

Believe me... a few of us have been thinking aboout the problem of lifting a KJ and doing it right for a long time. The BIGGEST problem with leaving it IFS, making it strong, works good bith on and off road ...is the cost. The part are there today but there would only be a couple of guys that will want to buy it.

Maybe take a look at the price at some of the other kits on the market for the Toyota's and other jeeps and you are going to see that there are not many kits like we are talking about for anywhere close to the price guys are wanting to pay. This applies to a lot of other parts as well. later...Clint

So...am I hearing that (leaving aside the argument of which is better) it would actually be easier and cheaper to swap out the IFS for a solid axle?

Ah, yes...THAT was a good day!

We haven't heard from Adam (jedijeeper) for a long time...I hope he's doing well, and that whoever bought his design is doing something with it.

I believe that the reincarnation of the Camo Edition will be less extreme...or, at least I hope so. I love what Adam did, but I'm just interested in strengthening the front end and fitting 33's. (I believe Adam was running 37's.)

Why are people so concerned about blurring out their License plate number? Thousands of people see it everyday when you drive around.

Would the SFA come with various spring heights so people could adjust there lift a little? (like if someone just wanted a stronger diff for a locker, but wanted 31" and people who wanted to take this thing to deep water/mud crawling that would want 37" tires to keep everything out of the muck)

That would be awesome if that's what you were planning.

That's one heck of an awesome looking Liberty with A SFA!

The question is: Did he ever have problems with it? Did it hold up to the rigors of off-roading over a long battery of tests?

Yes. It was tested and performed perfectly in Moab (4+ trails), AF Canyon (seen in photos above), and the Rattlesnake, which is a very challenging trail near SLC.

It's the real thing...not a show jeep. Extremely well-designed.

I am curious how it will look on a jeep. That one of JediJeeper looks awesome.
