I just installed one of the new Fumoto F-102S drain valves about a week ago. The F-102S has a short nipple with a snap on adapter for attaching a hose if desired. The nipple does not stick below the factory skid plate on my CRD.

Is this part number for a pan that still has the factory
threads?

Yep, the F-102S fits the factory threads.

Has anyone who's installed one of these fumoto valves had any problems or regrets? I don't do any serious off-roading but do spend some time on little two-tracks, logging roads, etc., and I just don't care to knock this little valve off and leave all my oil on the ground. Does the angle of the insertion into the pan help to protect it enough?

I've done alot of offroad travel in mine and never had a problem with the valve - which is protected by the rear engine cross member and the transmissionbash plate (which you should have anyway if your using it offroad). The low hanging oil filter is more of a concern.

very protected by the crossbar. I did get the clip also, never had a single drop of oil leak from the valve

Great pics!
We added the original styled one soon after we got the CRD. A friend took his to one of those quick oil change places & they striped the threads several times. It looks like it will not hold up but I have had no problems with it. we get a lot of salt and snow drifts in the winter here. It's also great to pull an oil sample for a lab test. Simple to install and you never have to pull an oil plug again. I got mine on sale from Greg a forum member at: http://www.lubricationspecialist.com/
He has a shop and worked on CRDs.

P.S. Greg tells me the F102S is a Fumoto F102N that has been re-machined. These do not come from Fumoto & Fumoto does not stand behind them. To much liability if one were to fail. I guess I will stick with my F102N as there is little difference between the F102S and the F102N.

I have the valve with out the nipple and have been off road some with it I'm not lifted either. never a problem yet. I did get the clamp thing but never used it on there. I lost it the first time I tried to put it on with a set of pliers... it slipped out of them and bounced off in my stone driveway never to be seen again. It has never leaked or been opened by accident

I work for the railroad and have been off road with mine, nary a leak. I lost the spring clip on my 2nd oil change after I got it and was concerned at first but not a drop has ever come out and I've drug the skid plate across railroad ballast, logs, and many other things without any problems.

It's a quality product, makes oil changes easy and it's not an issue.
