I did search the forums but nothing came up on the subject.

Last week I had an issue with the actuator rod for the starter switch, the battery was disconnected to do the repair as I was messing with wires related to the airbag and working near it's location.

Now I noticed the cabin lights take forever to go off once you leave the car, also when the key is in and running, they will never go off, I can drive for 45 minutes and the lights won't go off, it's pretty annoying....

Any guesses at what's going on? It only started after my repair on the ignition switch. Did I mess something up?

Thank you in advance for your responses !!!!

Stupid question but it has come up before.....have you pressed the cabin light to switch it off?

Have you advanced the panel dim switch....ie. rotated the left lever all the way up....this turns the panel lights on bright and switches on the cabin lights....at least it does so on my Export 2.5 CRD. :?

The interior lights are basically run by the BCM so maybe you need to have the BCM re-programmed? :(

Thanks!!

Well when I try to turn them off from the switch, it does nothing, I click it and they blink as I hit the switch, but they stay on.

Now, I don't know where you adjust the intensity on the cabin lights from in this car, and since I was messing all over the steering wheel column to do the fix lats weekend it's quite possible I found it without even know it and turned it, now I will have to find it again and turn it off; however, if this where the case, won't they go off with the switch? and why are they taking so long to go off once I get off the car?

Thanks again !!!!

Any more ideas?

I had a similiar problem when I switched to LED bulbs. The BCM seems to run some residual current through the light circuit, just enough to keep the LEDs on dimly. The problem is solved with a low value resistor to pull it down to the level where they shut off. If you messed with wiring on the same BCM circuit you may have altered the expected residual current that ther BCM is expecting. Powering down by discountecting the battery simply resets to default BCM values.

Hey, everybody deserves a self-administered dope slap from time to time, so don't forget to administer yours.

Welcome to the forum, friend.
