I changed the oil yesterday, second time ive done it my self. I used mobil 1 full synthetic and a puralator filter, just like i did the first time.

Drove it probbaly 10-15 miles that night with no issue, when i got home i reinstalled the jet chip without disconnecting the battery.

The next morning I started the jeep up and the code was on..went to the gas station and figured that It would clear out after a minute or two. The code never cleared so i disconnected the battery and the code still didnt clear. Nothing else changed and the jeep is driving and running normal..So i emptyed a little oil, thinking i may have over filled it a bit..the code is still there.

I plan to reset it later today but im curious what could really cause the code and if there is a specific way to reset it, is it different that resetting any other code?

thanks!

Hi gren71, this is the "check engine light" (malfunction indicator light; MIL) not the "change oil" message on the odometer, right? I would say the most important thing is to find out what codes your engine is throwing. AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts or a friend with a Scangauge can check it for free. Until we know why the light is on, I'd recommend not driving it much. It might not have anything to do with your oil change at all.

Yes it's the malfunction, not the oil change indicator. I'll get it to an autozone and see if they'll check the code

I had auto zone run the code and it came up P0443, apparently has something to do with this part
