Wife is having a terrible time dealing with getting in and out of the liberty now, after the birth of a new baby.........instead of hearing her complain everywhere and every time we go somewhere especially by herself, I'm having to sell and get her a car of some sort

Try the new Escape it is based on a stretched Focus platform and is a second generation platform. The new EB motor has plenty of power and most small families find it very practical for their needs. Does not have a 5000lb towing but does offer 3500 I believe. Very good seller in Europe. Lots of family safety features.

That's the thing.........there's no other true SUV other than hybrids that come close to equaling the fuel mileage of a CRD, so I'm suck looking for a car. Actually when I bought this, I was in the market for an Escape AWD, but the local dealer didn't have any in stock and was gonna be a couple Weeks to get one and we needed something "now". Lucked up when I fund this on the Nissan dealers l ot next door.

So, with that said........and the fact I never buy new, one of the vehicles I am interested in is a used Escape hybrid. But will most likely go with one of the diesel Jetta or Audi A3 wagons. Or possibly even the Mercedes R TDI, or BMW 335D if one of those can be found at a good price with decent miles.

I love my diesel Jetta. I had a 09 sedan and then traded it in for a 2010 wagon. Never had issues with either. Great for long trips. I get about 45-48 MPG on vacation trips and average 38 MPG on my normal everyday driving.

I even looked at the Jetta TDI I like to be high but if I had to get a car that would be my choice I think.... And it's still a diesel

The state agency I retired from had several Escape hybrids that did not impress me at all but I don't recall what model year they were. I suspect about 2006. MPG was unimpressive (on hwy not much better than a tuned CRD), interior a bit cramped, and they all had a very noticeable and annoying whine or drone (not tire related) in the rear end at highway speeds. The latter would have been a total deal killer if I was in the market.

the 2013 is a total redesign from the 2006. The 2.0 ecoboost (the bigger of the 2 choices 240 HP 270 torque) gets 22 /30 which is pretty much what my CRD gets

Have you thought of the Big boy Bracket?
With my knee surgeries and old age, they work great.
Just have to slide the seat to fit after one gets in.

I love my 06 Jetta TDI, great mileage, big trunk, drives and corners great. We have two car seats in the back, it has a little more depth than the liberty but not as wide.

R class diesels can be found fairly inexpensively........if you look around you see them from private sellers in the 100k mile range around the 20k or lower price point.

Decent prices out there on them. AWD, diesel, crossover sized.....

I would consider one if I needed a family vehicle.

That or a jetta wagon TDI.

If a current member here buys this, within the next week.........I'd take $10,500!!!!! If not, its getting traded..........found a 2006 TDI Wagon trading strait across if I had to. Not your friends or friends of the family, this is to long standing current members who can appreciate the CRD for what it is.

Just posted this on the classified board..........same goes here. I really would like to keep this in the family of L.O.S.T. at best, or three very least in the Jeep community!!!!!
