It sure looks like the 05/06 CRD Liberties have built in regulators like MrMopar64 says
Here's some sites that list specifications and that say INTERNAL REGULATORS
Looking at wiring diagrams in the FSM it indicates there's a temperature sensor located in the battery box/tray but there is not.
Go look for your selves, you'll find there is no temperature sensor in the CRD's battery box.
The three sites below say INTERNAL regulator.
Most sites don't specify either way.
The tag on my newly dealer replaced alternator says it's a Denso 104210-4242 and doing a search on that is a dead end :dizzy:
The Jeep/Chrysler part number on the tag is 56044672AB

Not including the main power wire(big red one) how many wires are in that secondary connector on the alternator?

It should be 2 wires for the CRD,one coming from the ECM which is the field regulating circuit and the other goes to the ASD relay to ground the regulator circuit. That would be external regulation.

Don't count on any parts site to list anything correctly, there full of errors and use stock pics and discriptions all the time.

I cannot be bothered to waste my bandwidth looking at those websites.....most of these sites do not know the difference between an internal rectifier and an internal regulator. :?

2002 to 2004 Export 2.5 and 2.8 CRDs do have a battery temp sensor touching on the bottom of the battery....I had some issues with my sensor which turned out to be a wiring problem.

I believe newer CRDs have dropped the battery temp sensor. :)
