Putting home last night a strange pressure release noise then the power went way down. Smelled like fuel in the cabin.
Hmmm, I idled home.
Time to dig into the hoses, any ideas where to look?

I would start at the fuel filter head and work your way towards the pump. A leak in that area would put fuel close to the HVAC intake vent, which would explain the smell in the cabin.

Thanks,
Could not find anything out of place.
Very strange.
If it is the turbo, reluctant to start it for fear of killing the motor.

Hmm - pressure release noise, loss of power, "oily" or diesel smell. I'd suspect a split/tear in one of the intercooler hoses (pressure release noise is turbo boost lost thru split/tear causing loss of power and smell is from oil in the hoses and intercooler being vented to atmosphere). Pull both intercooler hoses off the engine; remove the woven covering if there; inspect for holes/tears and "consistency" of the hoses. A hose with holes/tears needs replacing (I prefer SAMCOs) a "mushy" hose should be replaced before it gives out. While hoses are off take a careful look at the bottom of the airbox to turbo hose to see if it's torn just in front of where it attaches to the turbo; that area tend to get oil soaked from CCV flow.

Son checked hoses, wiggled turbo vanes, put it back together, started it and went for a spin.
The back window was open: fuel smell, window banging and turbo whine from tailpipe, loss of traction from sliding on wet leaves at night.
He fly, I buy, Chinese food for supper, did I over pay him??? Ha!
