Ok so they quit making the Renagade model. I bought a 2012 sport and would like to do some Modifying. I am looking for some information and alot of suggestions.

Info needed:
What are the differences between the renegade and standard model?

Suggestions: :frankie:
What should the differences have been.
What should the renegade have looked like to live up to the name. AKA Lift, Bumper, Interior mods, ETC

Figured if I am going to build my own should get some suggestions on what should have been done different.

Jeff

Hi Sarge,

My understanding is that the renegade had skid plates, tow hooks, gray fender flares, gray or black rims, black background inside the headlights (except for the actual reflectors), and a black decal on the hood. The trail rated 4x4 capability and the suspension height were the same as stock. I have an '08 sport, so I may have missed some things. Feel free to correct any omissions, anyone.

Roastbeef has a sweet looking renegade. Here's one of his threads with pics in it.

Flat gray painted fender flares, bumpers, door moldings, and license plate light bar.
2010 Renegade models came standard with Selec-Trac II 4WD, made optional for 2011.
Limited trim for the interior minus leather which was still optional.
EVIC
Skid plates, all 5 of them
Tow hooks, two front, one rear, standard.
Gray wheels
Goodyear SR-A tires, 235/70R16
Silver roof rails
Renegade badging for both front fenders.
Blacked out headlamps
Flat black hood decal
Silver lower fascia (WARNING: DO NOT LOSE THIS PIECE, AND PRAY THAT IT NEVER GETS BROKEN OR STOLEN, AS BODY SHOPS WILL REPLACE IT WITH CHROME AFTER THEY RUN PART NUMBERS)

So, mostly an appearance package + offroad gear.

I had to have it. So I bought it. :)

I love the look of the Renegade, with it's gray fender flares and bumpers, but every time I play around in Photoshop, making mine look like one, the gray and the sandstone color of mine don't quite look right together. I would like to do the black hood decal though.

I love the military colored jeeps, ie. forest green and desert tan. So I like your sandstone color. I'm also sure it hides scratches much better than mine. I wonder how it would look with the grey fender flares.

Every body else pretty much covered it.

What they should have added IMO to the renegade line:
Rear locker.
2" lift with better suspension
off road lights similar to the KJ.

JeepNCrowd, I couldn't agree more. Back in the day the XJ Cherokee could be had with the "up country" package, which included skids and a mild lift. I wish there was an option for something like that with the Liberty. The Renegade trim line would have been the perfect way to implement it.

Here's a Photoshop version of my KK with the gray flares. I don't know about anyone else, but it just doesn't look as good as the red, blue, and silver ones do. Maybe it's just me though.

Also try photoshopping flat black, I think that would look great, similar to a wrangler.

Hmm....does make a difference, and I do believe it looks better. It would be a one of a kind as I don't think they made a Sandstone Renegade.

looks good, maybe slightly darker shade of grey also...personally I'd do matte black.

and slighter larger tires (than your 245/75-16) would help looks A LOT in my opinion.

Thanks. That was an older photo I used as it was a good side shot and easy to work with in PS. I do have 245/75's on her now. See my sig. :)

I think it looks really good in the sandstone color with Renegade trim. If they had that option available, looking back, I'd had probably got that one. Much better on scratches I'm sure.

Ok so here is the starting point. It's the one on the right. Color is Blackforest Green.
Image
Not sure how Grey would look. I am thinking I may have to go black or get a buddy to copy the flares in carbon fiber.

So here is the Factory stuff on Mine.( There is More on there just the stuff close to the Renegade)
Selec-Trac II Active Full Time 4WD
Skid Plate Group
MOPAR Chrome Tubular Side Steps
Tow Hooks

So can someone tell me how to tell if this is the same 4wd as the renegade?

I think that would be cool if you did the grey fenders and rims. I think it would look great and it would be original. You know youres would be the only one like that.

That looks too good. Is that 4x4 above the wheel well stock or did you add it?

That's what mine came with minus the side steps.
And mine is the forest green color.
But if you are going to offroad it, loose the side steps (they won't last long anyway) and get a set of rock sliders. They have already saved me more than they cost. If you want to see what the forest green looks like with the grey fender flares then click on the link in my sig and view my pics :SOMBRERO: .

I like it just not sure on the gray. Looks kinda silver to me. I may have to play and see what it looks like.

Also definatly looking at a set of rock sliders. The side steps were on it and I am going to put them up for the wifes Jet. Don't think hers will be doing what mine will just dirt roads and such for her.
