:?: have an 08 jeep liberty 4x4 with rockroad offroads 2.5" lift... vehicle was riding fine for quiet a few months all the sudden on decleration there is a ticking sound from the drivetrain.. had my local 4x4 shop check it out and they hear it but cant find what causes the sound either ..has anyone experienced this or any idea what could be causing it.

If its near the rear, I would guess U Joints. You cant really diagnose them while they are on and when they first start to go, they usually only show symptoms when loading/unloading the driveshaft. I just replaced the rear yesterday. It only had 18k on it and the ball bearings fell all over the floor when i pulled it. It started ticking and squealing when i was on/off the throttle and it just got worse from there. Do you have any vibration when you start to accelerate from a stop?

If its in the front, CV axles??

Those are the most common drivetrain service parts after lifting. They are just operating at their limit and wearing much faster than they would at stock height.

I have one as well, started 3 days ago and it's driving me nuts. Mine is coming from the rear but only happens sometimes when I go over a bump.

Is it a creaking noise? If so it's your rear sway bar. Pull it out and throw it in the garbage.
