The US market is way different than anywhere else in the world.
Take the TJM bumper for example, its made for not only off road use but also for normal every day driving where you may run into animals/other vehicles etc. Most of the aftermarket bumpers offered in the US would never stand up to what they are put up against in other parts of the world. Most are not strong enough, wide enough etc to take the beatings they do, plus being air bag compliant. Look at many that are offered for say TJ and JKs only covering the part between the frame rails, they would be asking where the rest of the bumper is over in other countries.
While over in east Africa, mainly Tanzania I see only large full width bumpers with large hoops that will take on anything and they do. They use their vehicles for expedition type trips not just going to a local off road park.
So therein lies the difference, US market wants a tiny thin little bumper that may gain you an inch or two of extra clearance but not provide as much protection.
OK now discussion time
I always like it when we had this in college
