Obama is cracking down on dpf delete kits for the newer diesels, if any of you own one with a dpf and were even thinking of getting a dpf delete i would do it very soon before the prices of the kits sky rocket or are no longer available at all. H&S performance has already stopped all production of dpf delete kits and egr deletes, they are being scrutinized by the federal government for sale of these items.

Pardon me but "Obama" is not doing anything. If anything is being done it's EPA based on laws Congress passed. DPF delete kits for on road use have not been "legal" since DPF came out as stupid as DPF is so any "crackdown" should be no surprise if it's actually occuring; not to mention that 05/06 CRDs have no DPF.

Now of you have a DPF and want to consider its "functionality" there appear to be lots of options.

Obama probably doesn't know what a DPF is. And I doubt he really cares. But, the EPA knows and those dudes don't want them removed.

As much as I can't stand any Chicago Politician including BHO, the EPA Lawyers who interpret the Laws Congress passes based a mix of Some Sound Facts and way too much Fraudulent Junk Science is the problem. Replacing the EPA with a Professional Organization of Environmental Engineers would sort out the Wheat from the Chaff and regulations would be not perfect, but more sensible. Those who cook up Junk Science used to bring on costly laws or regulations should be subject to both Criminal Charges and Civil Liability. Her is an example of the EPA generating JUNK SCIENCE to keep their funding flowing: http://junkscience.com/2012/10/31/new-d ... n-request/
With the DPF Kits being yanked from the market, the Engineers who know how to design a High Performance DPF will come up with one that works with out killing power. The Bean Counters are the ones who are forcing the Engineers design DPFs that are too small to cut costs. I do agree that a DPF is stupid, but having an Aftermarket High Performance DPF available will be a good seller. When I talked to Ron Wolverton (in 2010) of Suncoast about a High Performance DPF, he felt there was a market and his customers would shell out the money.
Take a look at the upcoming EPA Regulations, gassers will get particulate filters too (2014?).
When it comes to Diesel EGR, the soot, heat and oil vapor from the CCV are the problem that clogs up the intake and trashes out the engine oil. Urea known as DEF is a better solution than EGR, but it costs money to use.
Again, gassers are going to get it too.
Perhaps with the Particulate Filters getting rammed down the throats of Gasser fans, the High Performance DPFs and GPFs may be on the market in the near future.

Fear mongering much? Sheesh. So ONE vendor is getting hassled. Big deal, there are plenty more fish in the sea. SOMEBODY will roll the dice on making money and betting they can avoid getting hassled by the EPA. EGR deletes and DPF deletes will have their market as long as there is an exemption for off-road and heavy industry or the military. Even if they become completely illegal... Well, a prohibition has worked great against weed and blow, right? Where there is a market, somebody will meet the demand.

When you hear about EGR or DPFs being required on new army trucks.... THEN is the time to panic.

Thanks Papa and Geordi. Anybody remember that the 'loyal opposition' was afraid of gun/ammo control in 2008. A few days after the election ALL pistol ammo got snapped up and supplies didn't catch up for almost a year.

Last Christmas, CAL Ranch stores were selling AR-15's at deep discount (along with two free mags). HK's are readily available and ammo is plentiful for everything. We Utahns are gun packers.

FWIW, the air quality along the Wasatch Front (extended Salt Lake city area) is going to hell. Respiratory ailments are rising at an alarming rate. Diesel pickups that lay a huge cloud of black smoke pollute more than transit authority buses.

I'm getting old and am going to take it as it comes. The guys with kids and grand kids really don't seem to be giving much attention to the 'family values' they love to pay lip service to.

im waiting for them to start requiring ALL diesels to have dpfs on them. i dont understand how they think its helping the environment by burning more fuel and killing motors. what is the epa? a bunch of tree huggers?

I don't see any benefit to a "High Performance DPF". maybe a little less backpressure will help MPG slightly but the DPF still needs fuel to burn the accumulated soot. On the newer diesel pickups, that fuel is injected into the engine cylinders on the exhaust stroke. One very serious downside to this (other than a reduction of about 3-4mpg) is excess fuel is washed down the cylinder walls and ends up in the oil. 4-6% fuel dilution is common between oil changes.

FYI urea injection take the place of the cat, not the EGR. It's actually cheaper to produce a urea injection system than to make a cat for a diesel (due to the precious metals).

Why would a Gasser owner want to defeat an O2 sensor unless they were just too lazy or stupid to change it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_sensor
Another case of being Google Challenged or just Stupid.
About this Stupid.

Now if the engine runs too lean and it is not an air leak, a potentiometer or resistor can adjust the air fuel ratio.

AS far as the case that flman brought up, the Stupid EPA goes after a more Stupid Idiot who makes a stupid device that Consumer Protection should go after instead.

We better call Dodge then because the trucks with DEF remove a cat, all have EGRs.

The main point of EGR's is to reduce combustion temperatures, which in turn reduces NOx (nitrogen oxides).

If Dodge/Cummins could make a Nose Ring on the Ram Hood Ornament get the engine to pass emissions, they will do it as long as it is the cheapest option. Bosch and Mazda have figured out other ways to reduce the emissions from the Family of Evil Nitrogen Oxide Compounds that EPA/CARB has in their cross hairs, with out EGR, more power to them. Again, Urea does not replace the Catalytic Converter that is used to burn up unburnt hydrocarbons. The manufactures only use what they need to to pass emissions for that engine, if they don't need it they won't use it.
With Diesel Engines Urea is less detrimental than the EPA required levels of EGR and does not trash out the oil and clog up the intake manifold and oil passages.
If you want to sell Urea kits that Guarantee that a diesel engine will pass emissions with out a Converter, please knock your self out and start selling it. The market will beat a path to your door and good luck.
