http://idparts.com/catalog/product_info ... ts_id=2749 $175 plus shipping. Good price.

I haven't found a dealer that offers the kit. They want $350 for plugs and controller.

I thought the kit was all that dealers sold. This was the first hit that :google: came up with: http://www.factorymoparparts.com/68090434aa.html

Has anyone tried the glow plugs from across the pond that are 7 volt steel and do not require a ECM Flash or any other parts? 0250202038 Bosch

They may or may not be compatible, does anyone know for sure?
One would hate to remove the old ones and get a bad surprise.
When I checked last winter, I did not find one that crossed over.

Even though the Bosch's are listed for the 2.5 & 2.8 CRD's they appear to be spec'd at 11V not 7V??

The Bosch Glow Plugs in the eBay link are 11V not 7V or 5V.
Reminds me of the Brit who I got to believe that you needed a knife with a
sharp edge to cut through Guinness Extra Stout. The eBay seller must be
one of his brothers or cousins.

Part # is in my signature.

They are drop in replacements, don't have to flash ECU or change anything, just remove old, replace with this, done.

(That is, provided that your old one's don't have a broken tip.)

Good Luck!

...but there seems to be some concern as to how well the Etecno-1's hold up against cold weather. How suitable they are may well depend on where one lives.

I've seen people ask how they perform in cold weather, but I have never seen a complaint saying they underperformed or someone who said their Jeep would not start due to them and cold weather. While I'm not salesman for them, I'm also tired of seeing people claim they underperform in cold weather with no real evidence to back it up. It's kind of like Sam getting upset at people who say that Samco hoses swell under pressure.

:2cents:

P.S. 100th post, is that good or bad? I have a CRD sitting waiting on Rockers/Lifters Timing Belt and plan on doing it myself. I think it's bad...

Well there have been more than one but here's the most recent real life observation from a cold climate:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=72321

The reality is that these plugs only went into beta testing at this time last year and were not generally available until early this year. They did not have the market penetration last winter to get much meaningful data. I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more complaints in the coming months.
