Dealer unless you want to buy a $65 dipstick and a scanner that can read trans temp.

So about $100 as long as I don't need a pan like you.

I think I was quoted 120.00, on just Trans. Pan was extra but I had a 15% discount on parts and labor, 25.00 off.

Thanks for the response. Wish I could just do it myself, but I don't know who thought it was a good idea to design the transmission with no dipstick. Price would be cut in half if you did it yourself.

This may be a bit late, but here's a thought. Lets see who out there would agree it is a viable idea.

I recently bought my 2011 Liberty used a few months and was asking questions about some maintenance prices and things like the trans fluid. This was at a different dealership than the one I purchased my Jeep. I was quoted a bit over $125.00 I believe for the trans fluid change and level check. I then asked how much it would cost to just check my fluid level and adjust it if it was off or low, and was told they could do that for free if I wanted.

Anyone think that they can drop the pan, change the filter, clean and re-seal the pan, re-install the pan, and fill the transmission with approximately enough to drive to the dealership and have them adjust the fluid level??

Like I said, just a thought, but even if it was a few bucks for the labor to check it, you can take a quart of ATF+4 with you to have them use and not charge you for the oil.

Anyone agree?

YES!

. . . . what were we talking about?

Seriously, that sounds like a good system if you're doing it yourself and don't want to buy any extra gear that the dealer has.

With a trans flush, do they actually flush the old fluid out with a liquid and then refill, or is flush just the term for "drain"?

I think it's a good idea. But I don't know if you'd save all that much. I think my dealer would charge to check it, and I'd expect them too.
So it would be your time to get supplies, your price on parts and fluids, your time to do service.
Then an appointment at dealer( shop), and either dropping it off or waiting. So basically twice the time need for you to just have them do it. Plus my dealer has coupons that take 15% off. I don't think I'd complain about price for this. But no way I'd pay what they wanted to change the plugs.Even with the discount.
I have an extended warranty, so I do like to have some proof of service, at dealer.

I believe a blind man could change these spark plugs.

I'm serious. Hand that man a socket with an extension. Ya might have to help him check the gap, though. :-)

Me to Tony does more without seeing than many who see do.
Short story. Tony calls and said their car went off drive, bring my saw. So He says car hit and broke a tree and was on the stump. I look and said nope. I'm trying to pull the car out of snow bank and he keeps crawling around under the car. So we look again, Tony with his hands and me with my eyes.
Guess what car was on a stump:). We have many awesome blind guy stories.:) it's so cute to go there after a snow and see how he shoveled the snow.
But since I already changed my plugs it will wait.
