I am located in Akron Ohio and badly need to change my timing belt soon. I'm already over the 100k but not by to far. I have the pieces I need (i believe). I got the kit from ID Parts and was pleased. The only thing is I don't know if my pump is one of the dreaded Crown pumps because if it is... I don't want to install that in my jeep.

Id be very interested in a get together to change belts. I've been working on cars for years and changed timing belts in a number of engines but never on a Diesel or anything like the Libby.

To all who replied.....THANK YOU VERY MUCH. This list of people are very valuable for their experience and knowledge. Nearly but not all chastised me to various degress for being stupid and even a moron. While
that may be true from some vantage points, the serious nature of what I am doing came through in the post. For that I thank all of you for your opinions and experience. My post did not relay all of the factors in my decision to do what I did. The state of the vehicle with old belt and no balancer is not permanent. We are not in a big city and can not obtain items for repair easily. Our dealers are 100+ miles away and they can get parts in MAYBE 5 days when ordered. My dealers nearby won't touch this vehicle because they don't have any in their area, only ours, so they are reluctant to work on them and I am relegated to dyi.
Again, thanks for your input however severe. I will be replacing these items very soon.

After talking timing Belt and water pump changes. There a several people who need a belt change now. Or want to change it due to age. Original belts are 7 to 8 years old.

If anyone has intrest in Coming to Latrobe, PA for a Timing Belt change, let me know. I have all the needed tooling and a large heated area.

I would like to limit it to the Timing belt, pullys, tensioner and accessory belt, pullys and tensioner.

No water pumps, therefore there will be no need to open up the coolant system.

Should take a few hours per Jeep. I think you will like the price. FREE! Ok... a beer or two? Any intrest PM me.

I'd like to do it. Though I have the cam gear holder tool, I think I will leave my water pump in operation and take my chances. That said, I do need to change my thermostat and coolant anyhow and water to do that when I did the belt. Do you have the pins for the cams?

Hello all, I getting ready to buy a 2006 Liberty CRD with 108k, my guess is that the TB hasn't been touched, I'm going to guess that there is no real way to know this so I planned on buying the water pump and TB combo from IDparts.com and was thinking of trying to put this together myself, however after reading here that several of you are trying to put together and work party I'd be very interested in this if you are still planning it. I live in Roanoke Va. and will be returning home from China on Friday and picking up the Jeep on Sat. Thanks for the info and I have read the newbie page but haven't figured out to put the pic at the bottom of my messages yet as per the instructions haha.
