Well, about 10 000 miles after the timing belt job and water pump replacement, noticed a nice pool of Antifreeze on the floor after getting back from church. Turns out it was coming from the water pump. And did not sound good when I shut it down. Now this really stinks. Only 10k, and its dead, yet the original was good for over 100k. Called the ship in Windsor Wi, about a warranty and they are checking into it.. But still, thats going to be one HECK of a tow bill coming from Mchenry IL... And from my previous research nobody around here had the tools. Most jeep dealers sold theres. And don't really want to drag it on a flat bad using the Wrangler.
So, do you have all the timing belt tools and follow the same basic procedure as the timing belt job to replace it? Or is there an easier way?

If anybody knows of a shop closer that can tackle it, id appreciate it.

What brand of water pump did you replace it with?

Well the shop got the kit from IdParts. So I think its an OEM.

Good news though, I called the shop and they will cover it under warranty, and tow it the 100 miles to the shop.

Great shop, just with they were not so far.

How long ago did you have it done? IDparts used to carry the crown pump but have since stopped since there were enough reported quality issues. At 10k miles it wouldn't surprise me if it was a crown pump that failed. In either case if you are getting a new one installed just make sure its a OEM and not a crown.

It was installed in about April, they didnt seem to surprised when I told them it blew up. In any case, at least they are standing behind it and taking care of everything..

Cant wait to see if it trashed anything else.

Just got word from the shop(Total Diesel Care, Windsor Wisconsin) They are all set and did mention that the water pump from IDParts was not a OEM, and that they did have problems with them. They put in a OEM, at no charge, and even took care of 100 mile tow!
I will definitely be going back to them, even though they are 100 miles away.

Total was 1100. And they were finished in about 7 hours.
