Okay Ted, I'm gonna try a 265/70/16 General Grabber AT 2, and see if it will fit.

BTW, how do you like those tires?

They're ok but sometimes it feels like I have a flat. They're e rated, probably a but much for a light vehicle. That's the only thing I can think of anyway. Great traction on and off road. Would I but them again? Probably not. I want something a little more aggressive, more of a mud tire.

Honestly, I would like a more aggressive tire as well, but I don't want to have to settle on the "standard" 245/75/16.

That one isn't from Detoures. It looks like it was patterned after one of their tailbones. He puts his spare much higher.

A lite vehicle? My KK weighs around 2 1/2 tons- 5000 lbs. Was on a scale yesterday with about 3/4 tank of gas.

Really? They don't seem that heavy.

Yep! The weight they post is dry weight base model. Everything adds up. Plus I carry a lot of stuff. But I always wondered how people could describe the Liberty has a brick then say its light. Kind of like when NASCAR started racing trucks and car guys said that the heavier trucks would tear up the tracks. The trucks were lighter.:)

Okay guys, I ended up going with Nitto Terra Grapplers in a 265/70/16 on my TJ Moabs, and the tire fits perfectly in the spare tire well.

There is even some room to "spare" :P

How far does it set below the rear bumper? My 245/75-16 is about 2" below the mopar hitch.

I forgot to mention, that I do not have a tow hitch.
It is probably about 3" below the bumper cover, I will measure it though.

One of the disadvantages of it being there like that is offroad. Mine gets bounced off of occasionally, that is when I don't have my carrier mounted. They really screwed the pooch with that design, it should've never been moved from the rear. But, I don't think they should've stopped putting solid axels on either. :2cents:
