Not bad John, I like anything where I get to buy car parts from Home Depot. I think I'm going to steal this and build it on mine. I'm getting tired of the smell / smoke from the EHM.

1: Started with 4" PVC fittings. the whole project cost about $30 vs. $160 for the Mann-Hummel CCV Filter

2: Hose barb and connector. The elbow and connector were CPVC not regular PVC so I had to use Marine Goop to glue it in.

3: Messy but functional

4: Took out the bottom 90* elbow and replaced with a 45 for less restriction

5: Stainless scrub pads for media to catch oil and soot

6: Glued felt to outside to minimize possible vibration noise. The duct tape and zip ties were only used to secure it while the glue was curing.

7: Here's the 45* input (Viewed from the bottom where the scrub pad would be)

8: Used teflon tape on the lid threads to keep it from sticking and provide a better seal. When it comes time to clean it out I plan on using a turkey baster. No need to get under the truck.

9: DIY Provent plumbed and ready for action. It fits snugly between the battery, brake reservoir and ECU. Its not going anywhere! The hoses and barbs I used are the exact same size and type used in the other DIY Provent canisters in the Lost Forums.

looks good... but the problem when i did mine with pvc... all the fittings leaked, then it seemed the oil ate the glue and it all fell apart.. i redid mine with abs and the abs glue.. port in the middle and both ends... completely sealed, drain tube out of the bottom that all i have to do is sit on the ground to drain with a ball valve... mine is 2" in diameter and about 10 inches long

Update-
Trevor (05infernoCRDL) was right about the leaking part.
It lasted several months with no issues but please note I have the GDE Hot Tune (no soot but plenty of oil).

I've been having serious issues with my turbo recently (decreased power and mileage). The CEL will come on when its wet/raining outside and I plan on replacing/upgrading the turbo when I have enough pennies saved.
In fact I'm so miffed I took my old EGR valve to a machine shop to have a plug welded and end the oil/soot issues once and for all. darn the EPA, I'm not going to blow up my engine to save a few VOC's and NOX.
Has anyone else welded their EGR shut?

The problem with any catch can / bottle is that it still has to be dumped at some point which is very messy and must be remembered to do.

The best option, though not an easy one is to tie into the dipstick tube OR the turbo return oil line, dependent on which side of the engine you install your oil accumulation device (Provent or otherwise) on.

When I first got my CRD I created my own DIY Provent. It worked in that it trapped some of the
oil, but not enough to keep the CAC hoses and MAP sensor dry.
I now run with just a EHM.

Maybe this has been asked before....but couldn't you just pull off the hose coming from the CCV puck and pop one the old school crankcase breather filters to filter the air coming out and catch the oil mist. You'd just have to change out the filter periodically but that's no biggie. This is what I'm thinking of:

There is a very easy way to plate off the EGR flow right where the tube comes into the aluminum intake elbow. If a person were to cut a disk out of the bottom of a beer can, it would have the perfect diameter, thickness, and "dish" to sit in the mouth of the EGR tube and be clamped against the intake elbow port. I mean, theoretically..

Some RTV would seal its fate...
