I stumbled across this Craigslist ad, Pheonix, Az. area. Rebuilt CRD engine $3900. Aadd is current as of 12/13/2012:

Hmmm, I'd buy it but its advertised as a Mercedes Benz 2.8L engine, I have a VM motori in mine ;-)

I have no opinion on the quality or condition of the motor but take a look at the top of the engine pictures which clearly show it's a VM not MB motor. To my eyes it certainly appears to be a 05/06 CRD 2.8L VM motor.

That motor looks like the one in my Jeep... and mine is a VM Motori engine...
I have to laugh every time someone says that these Jeeps have "Mercedes engines" or that they were made by Mercedes.

You would be correct sir...it is a VM engine. This leads me to question anything about the add.

Appears the Turbo is missing, no Fuel Rail... man those are expensive too.

Seller told me it has 116k miles and is off of a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Can't trust that the work seller claims actually occured if seller can't even figure out what engine he/she has.
