There is a pink liquid leaking from my Jeep. It has quit leaking though.

After getting home from my Hidascan test, I peaked underneath. I traced the leak to these two hoses coming from the power steering pump, I believe. One of them has to be leaking.
Image

But I also saw this rubber piece coming off the rack and pinion.

I did a little wheeling Wednesday before I had to go have a colonoscopy/endoscopy surgery Thursday morning. That might have something to do with it it, but I'm not sure. Mileage is 91,715 currently.

I had surgery Thursday, so no heavy lifting which means no wrenching on the Jeep in my world. The most I can do is what I did, look underneath. Would appreciate your all's opinions and help before I run it by the mechanic's shop Monday. I'm going to drive it around the block to see if I notice anything. Will report back ASAP.

Thank You

Sarah

Did a quick run around the block. It seemed to warm up quick. But it had only been shut off since 12pm and I got home at 4pm ish. It's also 60F right now. I will try driving it a little further at highway speeds.

The pink liquid is not the consistency of what transmission fluid would be. Almost a watery substance.

Coolant or ATF are the only things that KJ's have that should be about that color.

have you checked the PS fluid yet?
Doesn't take much to go everywhere and make a huge mess
Maybe after you get to feeling better power wash it all off really good and then look at it again.
Just keep checking levels so you don't run anything low
The rubber you see on the rack is part of the bushing, typical wear item that will need replaced someday

I couldn't tell if PS was low. If its low, do I add ATF4 to it or is it a different liquid? Will check it in the morning.

Kind of over did it just checking underneath the Jeep. I do not like sitting still but I have to try. Haha!

I think the PS takes ATF+4 but check the manual.

I researched and it takes ATF4.

I noticed some of the fluid running down the side of the radiator, driver side. Must have splattered all over the place.

yep AT4 sorry should of mentioned that
If you have a hole anywhere at all driving down the road it will blow it all over the engine compartment
Thats the reason you need to hose it all off and then check it closely

Well it's not all over the engine bay. Just all over the driver side...

Does it feel oily or more water like? Also a simple small taste test will tell ya if ya can't tell by lookin at it. Do ya have a pressure tester (for coolant) or know someone that does? I am guessin on it being coolant just by the pics..........

It looks like the coolant and PS fluid is low. The coolant is an amber color and PS is pinkish red. I'm seeing both in the engine bay. I saw what looked to be coolant on the radiator/fan shroud and PS fluid down around the bottom/driver side. I can't really gauge how much fluid is in both, but they look low.

Is it possible the tech at the dealership who changed my oil, knocked around some hoses and made them loose? Or did something off road Wednesday?

The only reason I get my oil changed at the dealership is I get free oil for life. They do all the dirty work and I only pay for the oil filter.

I will add a little PS fluid today, but not entirely sure how to add coolant. I read the manual and it calls for MOPAR HOAT Coolant and MOPAR ATF4 for PS fluid. I used the Walmart brand of ATF4 when I changed my transmission and transfer case fluids. Not sure it's a good idea to use it for the PS.

The pink fluid feels a little oily. It's so hard to trace where the problem is.

Check the "tank" back on the firewall Sarah,
Thats how you check the antifreeze
it has on the front where it should be cold etc

Tom I checked the coolant/antifreeze. It looked a little low. Just need to know how to add it and if I have to get it at the dealership.

Just top it off to the full mark once warmed up. Mixin it wont matter when they have to change the rad. that is more than likely split at the tank and core on the drivers side like most do.

manual says to not add coolant when hot/warmed. do I add it when it's cold? it looks to be below the cold fill line anyhow. so does the PS fluid.
