It is funny I am the guy who got with Greg about this idea for the adaptor and here I am still waiting to install mine. I changed the oil just shortly before the adaptor became available, I only have about 3000 miles on current oil change with 7500 miles on the vehicle and want to wait till the 10,000 mile mark before I change again so I can do 10,000 mile oil changes.

Don't feel bad guys, only 2000 miles on this oil so far, so I've got a ways to go before installing mine as well. But since I've got it and I know it's going in anyway, I went ahead and listed it in my sig info, at least to give the gent who spent all the time making them a little free advertising.

It looks like I'll be installing my Fumoto w/adapter this coming Sunday. I've already attached the adaptor to the drain valve itself using the tips (oil the threads) on this forum and that went smooth. Thanks for the advice.

I'll be taking my hopefully first and last Liberty oil change "bath" soon. :) Any other tips on installing the Fumoto? How tight?(1/4 turn or something?) The instructions just say to tighten with a crescent wrench and not to overtighten.

Factory torque is 30 or 35 lbs for OEM plug, so just snug it up good and tight, just don't let the neighborhood gorilla do the job and you will be ok. I will be changing mine out about this time next month, and it will be my second oil bath. I just may se the Vet down the street for some of those long sleeved pull pig gloves. I did get a large cardboard box that I will lay under the Libby to try and keep from getting any on the garage floor. It will be so much better to be able to just lift and turn a lever to drain oil without it just gushing out all over the place. My Magnum with it's 6 qt sump was almost as bad, it would shoot out straight back over the oil pan. FUMOTO ended that mess.

I am kind of supprised no one has complained about getting oil in their arm pit. But then I don't think I would confess that either.

Wow, I changed my oil the other day and had no problems until I removed the filter. Then a bit of a problem as it ran over the skid pan a bit. The Fumoyo will make it totally effortless.

Is Greg out of town? Possibly gone to MOAB??

I did my Fumoto change over last weekend and it went fine. No oil bath, but the filter removal was a tad messy. Loosen it slowly and when it starts leaking, just let it drip for a while.

I wore gloves and if I hadn't I would have had an oil soaked hand. I also had a supply of paper towels on hand.

I used a big oil drain pan; I think I got it at WalMart; maybe a 2ft diameter one with a valve that lets the air out of the container as the used oil is pouring in. No oil splash ocurred.

I took Oldnavy's advice and didn't gorilla up when tightening the Fumoto with adaptor.

This thing is sweet! :D

Hey Walt, Greg, whoever might know - that extra threaded port in the drain pan, the one opposite the oil filter on the front side of the pan - does anyone know if that port sees oil pump discharge pressure, or is it open to the sump? Is it pressurized or not?

Got some info from and called up the company in Kansas that makes FS-2500 bypass oil filters, talked with a guy named Rick Fields. He said they had been working with two CRD owners on fabbing up an install kit for the CRD. One person was from Ohio, they'd had his kit about 3/4 done and he was supposed to come down to get it installed but ended up taking ill. Other person was out in Nevada and in the near future was going to have a dealer install the kit on his. Once they had an install done, where they could validate that everything in the kit would fit and work properly, they would start making them available commercially.

For the pressure side, he said they were putting a tee at the oil pressure sender fitting, and for the return he said they were having to drill and tap a fitting in an oil return or oil fill tube (didn't quite catch all that part). I remembered the pics of the oil pan and the extra port on the front. I explained the work Greg had done making the adapter for the Fumoto, and that in checking out the oil pan they'd found this extra port, and asked if he knew about it. From his reaction, apparently they didn't. While we were still on the phone, he was online here on the forum, checking thru the thread for pics of the oil pan.

If that port is not pressurized, where you could use it for the bypass filter return, it would probably make installing one of these an order of magnitude easier.

I seem to remember Greg saying it goes directly into oil pan, but I would wait and ask Greg for sure. If he doesn't see this today I will call him tomorrow and ask if he knows for sure.

Got mine a few weeks ago. Have you tried advertising it on some other boards? Edmunds.com has a forum for the CRD that's pretty popular, also at Jeepforum.com there's a KJ forum, and at http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/diesel-liberty/ and

http://jeepkj.com/forums/index.php

I'd hate to see a bunch of people flake on you and have you sitting on all those adapters. Good luck!
