They help to scratch the hood from their bumping up and down motion. Waste of money and do more harm then good in my worthless :2cents: . Unless you intend on keeping it on forever.

:ROTFL:

I often wonder why folks do those things when I see it, yeah yeah I know protect the paint BUT if it covers the paint up and ya can't see it what's the point? The comfort of knowing the paint underneath is ok? Sorta like deflectors but they do far more damage then a bra :banghead:

Im sorry but my jeep will never wear a bra. I didn't realize that the deflectors caused damage. This is also why i ask these questions. And 501 u cant say you've never done anything stupid to your jeep. :P

on a second note...what does anyone think of the "bug deflectors" they sell? I am mainly hoping they deflect rain and snow off my windshield and rocks off my new paint >.<

Beer does nothing to convince me to do anything, fridge full of it out in the garage which I never touch unless its 95 in the shade and been working hard
Money talks, the rest walks
Bug deflector will look good on the mall crawler

501 has never done anything stupid to his Jeep
He never even takes it over 1200 RPMs
He's taken it out and got it hung up but that wasn't being stupid, it was so that others could practice recovery techniques.
But never ever has he done anything stupid

so how much money are we talking to get your expert assistance in my grand undertakings? and she wont be a mall crawler forever. I have been looking at new tires which should help. the tires that were on it when i bought it suck in the snow. I am thinking about getting winter steelies and tires then you will tell me if i get good enough tires from the start then i wont need winter tires. I have 2 issues with that. 1. I am trying to wait until i get some more lift out of her to get bigger better tires 2. when i keep with a stock tire size then the dealership will buy me free tires for life...so i might as well wear these out and let them buy me new ones then sell them and buy the nicer ones

Anybody around here ever dealt with engine electrical system troubleshooting? Getting a professional mechanic involved is painfully expensive. My dealer service rep says I should sell it, but the odometer brand on my title KILLS the resale. I love it except when it acts up. Codes show irregular voltage to the computer.

What exact codes are you finding
or whats it doing exactly ?
Not charging, or ???
Sometimes although its a PITA you have to pay the piper to not have to spend a bunch "trying" to find the issue

I like the flat hood, sorta wish mine had one. I had thoughts of using a flat black jk hood decal on the center section of one.

I don't recall the codes, but they were C codes that indicated "high or low voltage to the ECU" or something along those lines. Sometimes the internal backlights will go out here or there. Last night it was part of the shift console out. No battery charging issues.

They found some jacked up wiring under the dash, and fixed that, and same story: ran fine for a day, then same intermittent problem. I looked under the hood at the fuel filter bracket, and I can't tell where it would rub exactly, as everything is wrapped in fabric tape whatever. One day it will run fine. The next, the ETCL will come on, and after some time, it will just lose power and then come back up to speed. On the way to work this morning, I had the cruise on 62 MPH, and it started to act up, but only lost 2-3 MPH, hung there, and eventually went back to 62 MPH. Seldom outright dies, just goes to idle RPM. In fact, hasn't died since last repair 9 or so months ago. Sometimes, I even get a full up CEL/MIL light to come on, but it always goes away. Really been acting up in the cold.
