Hi there, Okay I am getting some conflicting info regarding the ECT sensor. First are there 2 different sensors? One on the Thermostat housing which is a switch that controls the temp gauge AND and another that is a sensor that the ECM uses to contol engine items. I am told that they are two different items and napa shows 2 different part #s for them. The Jeep manual says to remove the sensor from the drivers side center of the head (which I cannot find) and turns around on the installation instructions, to install it in the thermostat housing which is on the upper right side. So are they one and the same, or 2 different parts and if so where is the one for engine controls mounted? Thanks guys.

Are you looking for the engine temp sensor for the engine temp gauge? What sort of problem are you having?

I am trying to confirm two things, if they are two different parts and if so what the location of ECT sensor is (not the one in the thermostat housing).

There is only one Engine Coolant Temperature sensor on the VM 2.8 CRD, and it is the one on the thermostat housing.
