Started school Monday, so it's racking up the mileage again. Let's hope gas stays "cheap" lol. :JEEPIN:

On the brighter side of things I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a lift. I'm just trying to decide which 1. Tommudd has been great help, but I'm still not sure if I want to put together an OME/Bilstein lift or go with his Econo lift. I want about 3-3.5" of lift... :juggle: :juggle:

Hmmm. I'll have to test a piece of this with some POR-15 my buddy has, wrong color but it doesnt matter. The piping is 1" EMT. Yeah after the first tack weld I set a fan up. That's not like mild steel fumes! Lol.

Same stuff I used. The paint sticks well to the welds, just not to the Galvi.
Keep us posted on how the POR-15 does...
Welding Galvi causes “metal fume fever” not a good thing. There are lots of articles on “metal fume fever" on the net if you are interested.
I also read that muriatic acid (diluted hydrogen chloride & water [swimming pool conditioner ]) will remove the Galvi coating. But the resulting fumes are a real bad health hazard & will leave a coating on everything it touches. It also will cause almost instant rust on exposed metal.
So I think I will avoid the muriatic acid option. Vinegar wash, or sand blasting sound like a much better health option.

Cross bars are tacked up, just need to finish welding those, and make the top ring, then mount it. Oh and paint. I'm going to paint it with black POR-15. That stuff is ROWDY!! It dries ridiculously hard.

Looks good!

Blacked out the Jeep logo a while ago. Just for the record, I moved her after noticing my park job.

Carlos, those lights look great. How do you like them? I was thinking those wires are a little too exposed for my comfort. :2cents: Maybe some wire loom?

How hard is that Wrangler hood bar to install? Did you have to cut the front bumper or grill at all?

pic taken before i finished the wiring... actually need to work on it, and install the switch and relay

what i did was cut two lines on the bumper to slide the light bar in, have to post pics for you guys and screw them directly to the bumper support. i did not cut le (L) shape that some people do on the light bar, it sticks out a little more but i think look great.

just got a great deal on mtr's km2s got 5 245/70/17 taken of a unlimited wrangler, they have probably 2k miles on it, spare tire was a mtr km for $200 now this is forcing me to buy 17" wheels but i guess for the price i got the tires why not...

here are the tires
Image

and this are the wheels i am planing to buy...

Image

i think will look sweet with a jeep logo in the center cap and can get them at really great price

my little swamper is taking shape now.... can't wait

Do you have a link to that hood bar? I can't find it anywhere. Nor do I know which Wrangler it's from.

I tried to start the Jeep up today and uh, it wouldn't.

So, instead of jumping it I just bought this...

My old battery was factory, and I think it has been dying for a while now. I had just been procrastinating with buying a replacement. It only sat for about 4 days so I knew it was time. Temp was in the 20s. Yeah, time for it to go.

I have been looking at the die hard platinum's in order to run all my stuff, winch and what not for the TJ. I had really good luck with my optima yellow top but optima's have been getting such a bad rep these days it seems..

I wouldn't run an Optima again if someone paid me.

problem with the optima batteries is the you may get a good batch or a bad one. i use to run yellow tops in my car when i was in the autosound business and blue tops in my boat, from maybe 5 optimas i had in the past, have two that went bad the first time that they lost all the charge,,,, and heard from a lot of people the same thing, seems to me that they are very susceptible to fail once charge gets down to zero... now talking about cranking amps... i don't think you can beat them.

later i realized that for what i was paying for optimas i could just buy two other name batteries and replace them more often.

When you have an Optima battery die after just about 2 hours of radio listening in the driveway while cleaning your Jeep, with 8806 miles, you'll feel the exact same way.

Should I paint my roof rack with linex/bedliner? Or regular paint (POR-15 if paint and not bedliner)? I'm thinking looks and durability, will the linex look bad on the rack? Thoughts?
